GH2016.8 Cat's Away

The Apartment : Music is faintly heard in the hallway. Lucky enters using his key
interrupting girl talk.

Lu: Staci, How often is an opportunity like this going to come along. Both of our
dads are out of town. My first night managing the club; Brooke's opening night. It
will be a blast but you look like you are going to a funeral! Staci: It will be a
funeral...my own.
Lu: It is a family owned club and you are family.
Lucky:(raps on the bedroom door) Everyone decent?
Lu: Yeah come on in. I thought you would be at the club?
Lucky: Brooke is doing sound checks. I thought I would come over an give you a
lift. (looking at his niece) Lu, I wouldn't call that outfit funereal just depressingly
Cassadine. (Staci is wearing black: turtleneck, short straight skirt, black stockings
and heels. Even her hair is bound back by a black velvet ribbon.)
Lu: Exactly. It screams Cassadine. The idea was for her to stand out and blend in
if you know what I mean.
Lucky: (Studying critically) Loosen the hair...big curls if possible and a bright
jacket. Baby, the idea is to teach you how to blend in. Nobody is going to be
expecting a Cassadine to be Hostessing at Lucky's. Your father's idea of
protection is locking you up on the island until he finds the right man for you and
then having him lock you up on his island. If you want to have any kind of
independence or freedom from the body guards you have to know how to take care
of yourself.
Lu: Lucky is right. Come on. (dragging Staci into the bathroom) We'll be ready in
15 minutes. Lucky, coffee is in the kitchen.
Staci: I'm dead. You know I am dead.

The Club

Brooke: Okay the first set will be standards. Get everyone dancing.
Mike: We should have a full house. The reservation book is full. May not be the
best night to break in new staff.
Brooke: Now Mike, Lu has been helping out here for years and Staci couldn't stay
home alone. If it gets too crazy you can always take her in the back room and
teach her how to cheat at cards.
Mike: Bite your tongue woman. (Brooke grins, grabs the old teddy bear and plants
a kiss on him)
Brooke: You love it and you know it. Twisting the tail of the tiger, living
dangerously...I love opening nights. The butterflies should start soon. I need to
warm up. (Brooke starts trilling out scales, stretching her vocal cords her voice
gaining power and depth. She bounces up on stage and grabs the microphone for a
final check.)
-This is where the party ends-
-I can't stand here listening to you-
-and your racist friends-
-I know that politics bore you-
-but I feel like a hypocrite talking to you-
-you and your racist friends-
-It was the loveliest party that I have ever attended-
-If anything was broken-I am sure it can be mended-
-My head is tired from bobbing and pretending-
-listening to some bullet head-
-and the madness he is saying-
-This is where the party ends-
-I'll just sit here wondering how you-
-Can stand by your racist friends....
Mike : What in the heck was that?
Brooke: A golden Oldie by they might be giants. Lucky said he wanted standards.
Do you think he should have been more specific?

A one room Cabin in Idaho inside a barricaded compound. There is snow up to
there.

Georgie: Jerry, shut the door. It is cold out there.
Jerry: Tell me about it Darlin'. Next time I promise you Haiti or El Salvador.
Georgie: Promises, promises. What did you bring for me? (She takes Jerry's coat
and hands him a brandy spiked coffee as he seats himself by the woodstove. He
hands her some discs.)
Jerry: (sipping gratefully) Copied the old man's memo's off his computer. All the
recent and future plans. I just downloaded it and didn't wait around to read it so
you'll have to translate.
Georgie: (taking the discs) That's why you brought me. (inserting the first disc
into the laptop) Oh Great...German. It would be something I am not fluent
in...general gist...white power...ruling class...bladda bladda...wire transfer
expected to a swiss bank account#. What is this? (Georgie goes silent and
becomes focused on the screen abruptly she gets up to grab a dictionary muttering
to herself and swearing in six languages she begins to translate) They have made a
connection in Port Charles, New York to funnel automatic weapons through. The
ship is suppose to leave in six days with the weapons and (thumbing through the
dictionary) precursor chemicals to facilitate both explosives and biological
weapons. Jerry: sounds as if Haiti is going to have to wait. Georgie: Port Charles.
They are sending that crap through my home town.
Jerry: Darlin' it is always somebody's hometown. Any other specifics?
Georgie: It is code named and gibberish. Only clue now is the ship leaving six
days from now going to the middle east.
Brooke:
-When the going gets tough-
- the tough get going-
-I've got something to say-
-I'm going to put this dream in motion-
- Nothing is going to stand in my way-
-When the going gets tough-
-the tough get going.....
Jerry: Looks as if there is a trip in our future. Can you recommend a place for me
to stay in Port Charles?
Georgie: For both of us. I am not expected back for a few weeks yet.

Back at the Apartment

Lucky: (looks up at two of his favorite girls entering the living room) That is more
like it. Okay tonight you are Anya Kates, age 19 and new to Port Charles. Staci
you have been in all the fine restaurants; you know how to do this just be
friendly, but distant. Make sure everyone has what they need. Any problems come
to me or Mike. (looking carefully at his niece he notes the make up that subtly
changes her appearance aging her slightly. The hair is loose and styled in a
carefree manner. A floral bolero styled jacket covers the unrelenting black outfit.
He walks toward her.) One thing ( he puts the Cassadine pendant inside the
turtleneck) And don't admit to knowing anyone; just gut it out. The only people
you know tonight are people that work at Lucky's. Did you watch how Lu did the
make up? (Staci nods)
Lu: Enjoy it now, a few years from now and you'll be coming to me to teach you
how to look younger.
Lucky: Well those are tricks neither of you will have to use for years. Let's make
tracks got to get there before the crowd does or Mike will think he doesn't need us.
