GH2017.65 What Me Worry?
The Warehouse: morning two days after the blast. Georgie is wearing a
nightshirt and has her hair up in a pony tail. She sits at the dining room table blowing gently on a steaming cup of coffee. She's the first one up but not by much.
Billy: Is there any more of that?
Georgie: (pointing to the coffee pot) Yeah, I don't make coffee a cup at a time.
Billy: (curiously) I didn't hear you come in last night.
Georgie: I didn't get off work until midnight and then I went out to the island to see Stefan and Lu.
Billy: You missed a fun dinner. Lucky and Mike were over. I think I'm finally getting to know who all the people are in town.
Georgie: I'm sure they were just what Cari needs to get her mind off what
happened. I worry about her. I don't think it has hit her yet how close she came to buying it at the outlet mall.
Billy: (nodding) Or that the other guy died. Jerry and I have been keeping an eye on her. What did you find out at the hospital?
Georgie:(suspiciously) Why do you want to know?
Billy: Jerry said when the news flashes were coming through that it was all
related to the story I'm working on. He told me a few things-- WSB Agent
Georgie Jones.
Georgie: (slightly disgusted) He's just a fountain of information; isn't he?
Billy: I think he tired of me making an ass of myself.
Georgie: (shrugging her shoulders) I was rather enjoying it. But since you know now... Excuse me , while I make a call. (she picks up the phone and dials a number by memory.) Daddy?... yeah I'm fine. I'm still over at Jerry's; I'll be staying here until the heat is off or until his son starts making me nuts .... Did you get those pictures I sent you?... I gave them to Stefan too. He has people in Russia that may have an easier time IDing the perps... don't worry-- anything I find out from him; I'll relay to you.... I understand that's what Cassidy Corbin is doing also. All this cooperation, not like what I heard about the bad old days. (She laughs at her father's reply.) I should be able to talk to the perp today. He's still in the hospital. The PCPD have him under guard, but they haven't
figured out the Russian connection... This is so weird. the retaliation came earlier than it should have and it has been aimed at the Cassadines rather than the Quartermaines... Do you want me to have Jerry call you when he wakes up?... Okay, I love you too. Yeah, I'm keeping my eyes open. (disconnecting she dials another number) Mom? How are things there? No, I think I'm going to stay at Jerry's for now. I'm concerned about Cari. I think that the car chase is going to hit her soon and I want to be around. I'm back working at GH with that
explosion they needed all the help they could get. I'm working swing if you
want to bring by some burgers-- hint, hint, hint. (laughing) Yeah, I'll see you later. Give my love to Mac. (She hangs up the phone.)
Billy: (Not disguising his evesdropping) So your father knows what you do but not your mum.
Jerry: (Entering the room in time to hear the last comment) That's because
her father's my boss.
Georgie: (Rising to pour Jerry a cup of coffee) And you're mine.
Jerry: (Grumpy even as he takes a sip) Blast it, Georgie; I can get my own
coffee!
Georgie: (Facetiously) I was taught to always respect my elders. Besides, I
know it takes awhile for your old bones to get going in the morning.
Jerry: (Grinning) And you call that respect!
Georgie: Well there are all kinds of elders and varying degrees of respect.
Billy: (With dawning amazement) How did I EVER think you two were a couple?
Georgie: (tartly) Yes, Why did you? You saw what you expected to see. Maybe
you should be asking yourself that question.
Jerry: (growing serious) Billy, will you excuse us? I need to talk to Georgie. (He waits until Billy leaves) Are you okay? I know that the plan was for you to ease back into things not to jump into the pressure cooker.
Georgie: (shaking her head) I'd just as soon be busy. Jerry, I've been training for this for years. Let me do it.
Jerry: Just know you have backup, okay darlin? you don't need to do everything yourself.
Georgie: Stefan gave me a bug to put in the Russian's room. He wants to know who the guy's seeing and what he's saying.
Jerry: Seeing as how you two are the only ones that speak Russian fluently
it seems reasonable. WSB will want copies of all the tapes--timed and dated
so that tampering isn't an issue. How is Nik holding up?
Georgie: He's furious. And not too happy with me 'cause I'm staying here
rather than with Lu on the island. He'd love to have everyone on the island
where he can keep an eye on them-- Me, Alexis, Gina and Brooke. He hates it that it was his building blown up. And he hates it that I have been the one getting all the information so far. Stefan has been backing me up there. I know it would have probably gotten nasty last night. Stefan can be a paternalistic jerk at times but he knows what women are capable of.
Jerry: He learned that one the hard way. I could tell you stories about his mother and Cari's grandmother that would curl your hair. Wait-- Alexis speaks Russian too; doesn't she?
Georgie: I don't know. I think Stefan is trying to keep the lawyer out of it for now. Besides Alexis has been adament about staying off the island. She thinks she can do more information gathering in the community. She has access to the television station and all the gossip from the top of the hospital administration. Personally, I think she is making herself a target to keep the heat away from the island and Stone.
Jerry: (nodding) I think you're right. Anything official from the Cassadines has been coming from her. She's been the spokesperson so far. What about Morgan?
Georgie: He's got bodyguards on just about everyone and is providing drivers. Jase is cool that way. He won't stop people from doing what they feel they have to... but they'll do it his way. He'd still like to pin this on you and your brother.
Jerry: I've been monitoring the company's internal memos. Nothing about ELQ so far. But it's too soon to tell. If I mention this to Jax then the very thing that Morgan has been predicting may happen.
Georgie: Don't have too much pull with you brother; do you?
Jerry: We stay out of each other's way business wise. It's always been that way. But even more so after my father died and I gave up the dirty tricks I used to do for the company.
The club: Lucky stands behind the bar and is speaking on the phone when he
hears the click of the door opening. It is before the club officially opens. His gaze focuses on the door as he reaches for the 9mm semiauto under the counter. He continues the conversation without pause. As he sees who enters he puts the pistol away without comment and without it being noticed by his visitor.
Lucky: ... Cari, thanks for dinner last night... The Caddy won't be out of the shop for a week or so. The driving lessons will have to wait or we'll have to use another vehicle. I figured you'd be sticking close to home for a bit... Yeah, your dad was a little freaked. Tell you what, I'll swing by later. Give your mom my best when you talk to her... I've got company here so I'll talk to you later. (he hangs up the phone) DA Garcia, What can I do for you? We aren't open yet.
Keesha: I didn't know if you would be open at all-- what with what happened.
Lucky: (coolly) That's a Cassadine problem, not mine.
Keesha. (disbelieving) Right. Actually, Carida Jacks is who I want to talk about.
Lucky: (suspiciously) What about Cari?
Keesha: Her name was mentioned at the police debriefing about the Mall
shooting. Alex says that he won't ticket her for driving as long as she gets her license ASAP.
Lucky:(raising an eyebrow) I would have thought that the Commissioner has
bigger fish to fry.
Keesha: Oh he does. But I think it still burns him that he never caught you when you were teaching Lu and Georgie how to drive. If he catches her driving without a license, he'll ticket her for it and for the "reckless driving" at the mall. (As it appears that Lucky is about to protest) Oh I know that she'll probably beat that ticket. But even one could stop her from getting her license until she's eighteen. Lucky, get legal before you take her out on the road again.
Lucky: Fine. She's ready to take her test anyway, Keesha.
Keesha: I didn't think it would be a problem. Is Lu going to be coming into the club?
Lucky: Not until the cops figure out if that explosion was meant for her.
Keesha: How was it that she wasn't home?
Lucky: She was called into the club because the walk in wasn't working.
Keesha: Did you ever find out what was wrong with it? The timing on the
breakdown is... interesting.
Wyndemere lunch time. All the kids are gathered. Maxie and the kids are taking a break from the formal lessons but you can learn something anytime.
Stone: I have the files from Mom to start working on the PSA's for the station. She had a few suggestions. Fire safety or gun safety perhaps.
Staci: How about wearing a seatbelt?
Maxie: Who did you have in mind to do these announcements?
Stone: I think Commissioner Garcia would be best for most of them. Ms. Jones, you know him, right?
Maxie: (Nodding) He's a friend of the family. I could talk to him if you would like.
Stone: That would be great!
Maxie: I'm fine with that; I think he'll be too. Before I ask him I need to have a project outline with all the research on it so he can tell you are serious.
Stone: (groaning) I hope I'm getting extra credit for this.
Maxie: I can see all kinds of different ways this might work for extra credit. Depending on how involved you are and how detailed your notes and journal are. I would need to see step by step what kind of work you are putting in to the PSA's. (Looking at her watch) I'm supposed to go over to the Morgan's after lunch to talk with the kids then swing by their school to pick up their assignments and records. How much do you think you could get done by tomorrow?
Stone: I should have an outline for at least one of the spots and have started research.
Staci: Do you want some help?
Maxie: (warningly) If you are going to work on the project also, you need to be clear on the seperation of the work-- maybe take a different PSA to research. Mr. Cassadine said he was going to have you work on Tai Chi this afternoon. Did you have any messages for Michael or Anna?
Stone: Just tell them I'll call them tonight.
Nikolas: (entering the room) How did the studies go this morning?
Staci: It's strange to not be going to school. I'm glad you're here, Ms. Jones.
Maxie: (smiling) So am I. I'll see you tomorrow. (Maxie rises and nodding to Nik takes her leave.)
Staci: I need to call and check on Kris.
Nik: Georgie stopped by last night. She said that Kris was doing fine. There are PCPD guards by his room. It wouldn't surprise me if his phone calls were being monitored. I'm sure that until the police know exactly what's going on they will be examining all possiblilties.
Staci: (protesting) But Kris didn't do anything wrong! He saved my life.
Nik: (squeezing her shoulder reassuringly) Yes. But the police don't know that for sure...yet. And until they do, Anastacia I would ask you to keep your distance. Our presence will only complicate matters. As soon as Kris is well enough to travel, he will be brought here. (Staci rises to leave) We'll be working on Tai Chi in two hours.
Staci: (unhappily) Yes sir, If you'll excuse me I'm going to talk to Aunt
Lu. (Staci stalks out. Nik sighs)
Stone: She's not a happy camper. ( Stone sees that his comment didn't relieve any stress for his cousin, decides it's a good time to leave also.) Ms. Jones gave me a lot to work on. I'll see you in a couple hours.
Laura: (running into Stone as he leaves, teases her son.) Nikolas, are you
running all the kids off?
Nik: They have a break before their studies resume.
Laura: (tilting her head slightly) Something is going on with you. What's up?
Nik: Nothing. (His mother just looks at him waiting.) Everything. There's
nothing you can do help really, other than what you're already doing. Keeping everyone on an even keel. I'm just worried about Staci and my sister.
