Tunisia: Georgie sits in the courtyard; her face raised to the early
morning sun. She wears mirrored sunglasses that conceal her eyes. Billy
enters, this time bearing coffee.
Billy: (holding out the peace offering) I'd like to start over. You said
many things last night that made sense. I did prejudge you and the
situation with Jerry. I apologize. I hope you'll give me another chance.
Georgie: So if we had questions and answers today, you think your questions
would be less stupid?
Billy: I'm chastised by my previous assumptions I hope I'd be much more
open now.
Georgie: So you want to try again. Is this going to be off the record?
Billy: Of course. I realize now how important you are to Jerry, and I
would never do anything to jeopardize our relationship.
Georgie: Honesty, how refreshing. Fine. Ask your questions.
Billy: (Bewilderment finally really showing) Who are you?
Georgie: Georgie Jones. ( Reaching out her hand, Billy shakes it
automatically.) I'm a registered nurse at General Hospital in Port Charles,
New York. I am currently on a leave of absence.
Billy: How did you meet Jerry?
Georgie: Asked and answered yesterday-- next question?
Billy: How did you end up here with Jerry?
Georgie: Jerry had business here. He doesn't speak the language; I do.
Billy: I saw you yesterday on the computer.
Georgie: Like I said, He doesn't speak the language. I was translating the
documents he got from the meeting at the bank.
Billy: And then you put them under a password lock in the computer.
Georgie ( flipping her sunglasses to the top of her head) My, my-- you are
snoopy; aren't you? It's a habit. A good one. I couldn't have every Tom,
Dick and Harry getting into patients files; now could I?
Billy: True. What's in the documents?
Georgie: Ask Jerry. Next?
Billy: How did a nice girl like you get messed up with the Cassadine?
Georgie: You are making all kinds of assumptions again. First that I'm a
nice girl and second that I am messed up with them.
Billy: Jerry told me that you have the Cassadines wrapped around your
little finger.
Georgie: (Laughing again) No one wraps the Cassadines around their fingers
except maybe Stefan's wife. To them I will always be little Lulu's friend.
Billy: Somehow I don't think that is entirely true. You couldn't have
attempted to maim The Cassadine on five separate occasions and still be
living if there wasn't a relationship there.
Georgie: (her eyes narrowing) Jerry has been talking. I think that the
Cassadines find me entertaining. Now I have a question for you. Who are
you, and why are you so interested in the Cassadine?
At the Warehouse. Lu has arrived early with the plans in hands . . .
beside her is a carafe of coffee that she brought her contractor who is
just now pulling into the parking area.
Lu:( Shaking his hand briskly and firmly) Mr. Gregory. Thanks so much for
coming by. I thought it would be a good idea for us to do a final walk
through with the plans. Let's go inside.
Gregory: Great. The windows alone make a big difference to the building.
Lu: They were just finished yesterday. (Taking out keys she unlocks the
building) Once we get going we won't need to have the keys for the
warehouse. I was very serious about having work going around the clock.
Gregory: (warningly) That will cause a problem not just with the fatigue
factor but also with the inspections.
Lu: That is why you and I are going to be such good friends. I work nights;
I normally don't get off until about 3am. I can be a resource to you on the
night shift until you come on. Either one of us can do the walk through with
the inspectors which we will schedule first thing in the morning.
Gregory: Inspectors are like cable repairmen; they show when they feel like it.
Lu: I think you'll be surprised.
Gregory: (shaking his head) I won't be bribing any officials.
Lu: If you did, you'd be fired. Everything on this building will be to the
highest standard. We may be working on a clock but the work will be exact.
Any problems will be dealt with immediately... by me. If the inspectors
don't maintain the high standards that you and I do, I'll get them fired
too. One of the residents of this building is the brother-in-law of the
mayor. The residents of this building have positions of power within huge
corporations that are pouring millions into the local economy. I think AJ
Quartermaine will see things my way.
Gregory: (admiringly) You're a pushy little broad; aren't you?
Lu: Why yes, I am. How kind of you to notice. Mr. Gregory, you and I may
be doing a lot of business together. I'm sure you have noticed how slow the
city has been in revitalizing this area? I think we can do better. (Off in
one corner of the warehouse is a table with a space heater and a security
guard who prepares to go on rounds)
Guard: Ms. Spencer, I was about to go on rounds; I'll be back in thirty
minutes. (Lu nods and thanks him)
Lu: (rolling a set of plans out) The elevator was considered a repair so
the work has already been done. I thought that the heating system would be
next so all the pipes needed are on site . . . the boiler will be delivered
this evening; it has to be trucked in by the manufacturer. If you can get a
crew together, you can start working on that as soon as this afternoon.
Gregory: (Intrigued by one of the transparencies) Are you making this
building self sufficient?
Lu: I see you've found the fun part. It will be. Maybe not totally but
for long enough.
Gregory: All the buildings you planning on rehabbing going to have these
features?
Lu: Maybe some of the features but not all of them . . . This is the
experimental model remember. That transparency was developed by my
stepfather. It will not be on file with the city. Do you have a problem
with that?
Gregory (answering distractedly) No. no problem. What is this . . . some
kind of hidey hole? (He points to a space within the apartments)
Lu: Yeah, That area is hard to find unless the burglar knows that it is
there. It can act as a safe as well as a place to retreat, it is fire
resistant to the point where the building would be reduced to rubble anyway.
Gregory: Your stepfather one of those survivalist or just paranoid?
Lu: (laughing) He prefers being called cautious. (Growing serious)
There's been more than one kidnaping in our family. While we have been
extremely lucky in getting people back, it does make my stepfather . . .
cautious. My mother reads the tabloids. So she sees all the stories about
people being slaughtered in their homes during robberies. I guess it comes
down to this; Mr. Gregory, would you want your daughter to live in a
building with these options?
Gregory: In a heartbeat. I've heard the stories too. She's living over in
the dorms at PCU. Whenever I go to see her, the fire doors are propped
open. Anybody could walk in off the street.
Lu: I guess all fathers are alike. Mr. Gregory, if this building is
brought in on time, your bonus will be an apartment in the next warehouse we
do together.
Gregory:( grinning wryly) Already planning the next one?
Lu: (grinning back) I'm having fun so far. How about you?
Gregory: It's been a roller coaster, honey. These plans are interesting .
. . the details are innovative but efficient. I don't think I've seen this
guy's work before.
Lu: Other than the security transparency, The rest was designed by a
student over at PCU. The kitchens and bathrooms were developed by experts
and then Greg incorporated them into the plans.
Gregory: Greg huh?
Lu: What a coincidence.
The apartment: Brooke is just arriving home from the club.
Cari: Where have you been? Wasn't that what you were wearing last night?
Oh my Gosh, ignore me-- I sound like my father!
Brooke: Nik took me out for breakfast after I got off work last night.
Cari: Some breakfast if you aren't getting in until now!
Brooke: Well he knows I hate airplanes and that I am going on tour; so we
flew to New York City for breakfast. I think he is trying some kind of
distraction therapy thing with me.
Cari: Well it must be working, you aren't green like you were from my driving.
Brooke: I should be, but not from the flight . . . we had a cab driver who
drove just like you that took us from the restaurant back to the plane. I
thought I was going to die. So where is everyone?
Cari: Georgie sent an email. She says she's totally enervated by the sun
soaking into her bones and should be back whenever Daddy finishes his business.
Brooke: Enervated? ...She take a dictionary with her?
Cari: With all of Daddy's meetings, I'm sure she has plenty of time for sun
and fun.
Brooke: And Lu?
Cari: At the warehouse meeting with the contractor. She should be back
anytime. Dylan called. He invited himself to lunch.
Brooke: Great. Watch Lu and Dylan together. I think there is something
going on there. I swear everytime they got within feet of each other . . .
sparks. Do you have anything planned today?
Cari: Make the family rounds and a driving lesson from Lucky. Can I show
you something? (Without waiting for an answer, she goes to her room
returning with a photograph that she hands to Brooke)
Brooke: What is this? Something you pulled off of the UFO anomaly website?
Cari: (excited) No, I made it.
Brooke: What?
Cari: Lucky took me out driving and we tore up this farmer's field. Then
he had some guy in an airplane take pictures of it.
Brooke: WOW! I think he may have discovered a new art form. I think you
should have this matted and framed and put in your new place.
Cari: Are you for real?
Brooke: Sure! Art is to get people thinking and talking; I think this
qualifies. Crop circles by Cadillac, I love it! You know once I get back
from this tour maybe I should have Lucky teach me to drive. (Just then
there is a buzz at the intercom. Cari answers; it is Dylan) Oh Great!
Cari, I have to get a shower and change could you keep him busy? Heck,
since he invited himself to lunch, he can start making it! (She goes into
her room as Dylan knocks on the door)
Cari: Hi!
Dylan: Hi? Ah.. Where is Brooke?
Cari: She just jumped in the shower. I'm Cari; we talked on the phone.
Can I get you something to drink before you start making lunch?
Dylan: Let me guess, Brooke had something to say about me coming over?
Cari: Would you like coffee? (She walks into the kitchen, Dylan follows
seating himself at the breakfast bar where he can watch everything.)
Dylan: So when did Brooke get in?
Cari: I was up. I'm staying here while my father is out of town. I think
you've met him . . . Jerry Jacks? Did you want me to start lunch? Lu and
Lucas should be here soon.
Dylan: I know; I heard them make the plan last night.
Cari: Really. Lu said she was going to stop at a deli so there's not much
to prepare really.
Brooke: Hello! ( Walking over, she gives Dylan a kiss on the cheek) I'm
sure seeing a lot of you! Reminds me of Bensonhurst.
Dylan: Ah-- the good old days. Ned and I outnumbered by females.
Brooke: Gramps was there as well as Uncle Mark and Louis.
Dylan: (Snorting) Like Gramps ever denied Gloria anything. Admit it; we
were surrounded.
Brooke:(holding thumb and forefinger less than an inch apart) Oh about this
much sympathy, I have for you! Did you talk to Lu about the condo?
Dylan: Yeah, I was going to give you a lift home last night when I saw you
get in to a really nice limo. Spencer providing you with a driver now?
Brooke: You might say that; Lu had Nikolas give me a ride. ( Just then the
sound of the key in the door is heard and cheerful voices.)
Lu: Guess who I ran into down in the lobby? (Just then she sees Dylan
sitting at the counter and her face loses its humor. Brooke and Cari
exchange meaningful glances as Brooke mouths 'you see what I mean?')
