GH2017.53 Play Nice

The club: Lu brings a round of drinks over to Dylan and Lucas's table.
Setting the drinks down she pauses briefly to talk with Lucas.
Lu: Lucas, thanks for the name of that contractor. He seems very helpful.
I think he's finally realizing what a huge task you referred him to when I
asked him to schedule work around the clock.
Lucas: I guess you're really serious about getting the project completed as
soon as possible.
Lu: Two weeks for the first condo and then the others as soon as possible
after that.
Lucas: I hope I'm still on the list.
Lu: You bet! We should get together and discuss colors and things.
Brooke, Cari and I have the basic plans completed. But we need to talk
details. I'm going to be doing some custom textiles for Cari and her
father. If you want me to do some for you, I'll need to get more of an idea
of your likes and dislikes.
Lucas: Well, I have been traveling light for a lot of years. All I'm
bringing from New York is clothes, books and basic necessities.
Lu: Exactly what I want to see. What defines basic necessities says a lot
about a person.
Lucas: Come by the hotel, I'll give you the tour. And if you make me a
priority also I'll even take you through my storage unit.
Lu: Hotel getting you down?
Lucas: It's convenient, but it's not, if you know what I mean.
Lu: Perfectly. You should come by my place tomorrow and see some of the
things we have done with it. And check out the plans too. This project has
me getting up early these days. How about lunch?
Lucas: That sounds wonderful. I'll see you tomorrow then and we'll make
plans when I can reciprocate.
Dylan: Hey what about me?
Lu: (Uninterested) What about you, Dylan?
Dylan: I understand there may be another condo available. Tonight's little
dinner party convinced me that I want out of the Quartermaines.
Lu: Do you really think that we'll be able to get along? I'm moving my
workspace there; we could end up seeing quite a bit of each other . . .
Dylan: ( smiling ingratiatingly as he interrupts) Yet another benefit.
Lu: (Continuing, ignoring the interruption) . . . Not only that but last I
heard you were on Brooke's persona non grata list.
Dylan: SHE's forgiven me.
Lucky: (Calling from the bar) Hey princess, you working tonight or what?
What's a guy got to do to get a cup of joe?
Lu: (looking over at her brother and laughing) Your arm's not broken!
(Turning back to the table) I'm afraid my break is over. I'll talk to you
later, Lucas. ( She starts back to the bar)
Dylan: (Rising and following her, he catches up before she reaches the bar
and asks quietly ) Lu, can't we get together privately and just talk; is
that too much to ask?
Lu: Let me see if I understand you. Talk . . . as in an honest
communication between two people? Yeah, I think it is too much to ask of
you. Stay away from me, Dylan. And if my asking is not enough for you,
look around the room; there are plenty of guys here who could make it clear
to you. (She waves her hand generally around the bar; Dylan's gaze follows
her hand movement to see Lucky, Mike, Stefan and Nik as well as his fellow
refugee from the Quartermaine dinner party-- Lucas. Holding up his hands
briefly he returns to his table.)
Brooke: Here is another oldie this one was done by Elvis . . . Costello
that is. Here's Charm School.

Men made out of monkeys
Men made into mice
Happy days are here again
And all the drinks half price
A girl with a trick and a man with a calling

Trying to make a living out of your downfalling
TRYING TO MAKE A LIVING out of anything at all
Didn't they teach you anything except how to be cruel
In that charm school

You and I as lovers
Were nothing but a farce
TRYING TO MAKE A SILK PURSE
OUT OF A SOW'S ARSE
Saying 'Why don't you watch me'
Hardly speaking SOTTO VOCE

I've got a notion
I've got an angle
Take your dreams and promises
And put them through the mangle
They say it's hell to finance too
And I just want to romance you

In this perpetual nightclub
I'll be yours eternal
Though the hours are long
And the noise infernal
JUST ONE SHAMEFUL ACT OR SOMETIMES TWO
WE MAKE BELIEVE WE'RE MAKING DO

Lucas: That was interesting. I think there was more than one conversation
going on between you and Lu. What did you do to tick her off?
Dylan: Nothing . . . lately. I think she is still upset about what happened
with Brooke.
Lucas: You are going to have to set me up with your niece. Maybe then I'll
put a good word in for you with Lu.
Dylan: I don't know; let me try to talk to her again first. (Rising from
the table, he moves to the bar standing along one wall while waiting
patiently for Lu to be caught up. Looking over her shoulder, she sees him
standing there. Sighing, she walks over beginning to wipe the bar in front
of him and fuss with the bar accents) Are we going to be able to talk about
this?
Lu: There's really nothing to talk about, is there? There never was.
Dylan: I'm living here now. I've been doing business with your family. I
was hoping that we could be at least friends.
Lu: (laughing) Friends? I've got lots of friends.
Dylan: ( In a low pseudo wheedling voice) Come on, Princess, Let's bury the
animosity. The families are working together. My niece is living with you,
for goodness sake. Our lives will keep colliding.
Lu: True, but we don't need to have these little private chats either.
Dylan: I was hoping you'd relent about the warehouse condo.
Lu: (giving in but not up) Fine. Brooke and I had already talked about it.
I won't have to do as much research to know what you like; will I?
Dylan: (winces) I HAVE changed and so have you.
Lu: We all have to grow up sometime.

Over at the table Stefan sees Dylan and Lu talking.
Stefan: Hornsby. Dylan Hornsby (awareness dawns) Damn, I'd forgotten all
about you.
Nik: (his attention diverted from the stage by Stefan's cursing) Who?
Stefan: It's not important right now.
Nik: If it's someone you're cursing forgetting, forgive me if I don't agree.
Stefan: An annoyance. But something I'll have to look into further.
(Dylan starts rubbing his neck as if feeling the heat of the glance being
sent his way. Stefan is distracted by the sound of voices at the door.
"Anya" is barring someone from entering the club. Stefan, Nik and Kris all
rise as one but wait as Lu walks over to the door)
Lu: Is there a problem here?
Staci: Yeah, I tried to tell this guy he couldn't get served here and he
started to go off on me.
Guy: I've never seen this little bitch before in my life. Who in the hell
does she think she is telling me if I can come into a public place?
Lu: I'm not surprised you don't remember her; you were kind of drunk at the
time. Do you remember waking up black and blue and hung over? I told the
coach that all of you were 86'd from here and if you came back I'd have you
cited for trespass.
Guy: Football season is over.
Lu: I don't follow sports. Now I already played nicely once not calling the
cops on you last time, are you going to leave nice?
Guy: (looking over Lu's shoulder at Lucky, Nik, Stefan and Kris) You
haven't heard the last of this! I go anywhere I want! (With that he leaves
and Lu exhales; turning around she sees the guys practically on top of her)
Lu: You're more efficient than the cops; I don't even have to call for back
up. Show's over guys. Daddy, why don't you go back to your chess game . .
. Nik, I think Brooke will want to go home after this set. Lucky, will you
go see if that guy was driving? I smelled alcohol on him. Please don't
touch him though, just get me the plate number. Kris, where is Anya?
Kris: Behind the bar. (Lu winces at the violation of her liquor license)
Lucky: (Walking out the door after the drunk ex football player) Great,
I'm the lot attendant in my own club.
Lu: Whatever. (Walking over to the phone behind the bar, she dials the non
emergency number of the PCPD) Yeah, this is Lesley Lu Spencer over at
Lucky's; could you send an officer over for a trespass report? ... He's
gone now. I'd just like to get it handled . . . Thanks. Mike, can you
cover the bar for me please? ( At his nod she and Staci go in the back
room; Kris follows them.)

Over at Lucas and Dylan's table both men retake their seats.
Dylan: Well, that was interesting.
Lucas: Wasn't it though? This place is like a fortress really; first sign
of trouble, all the muscle comes out.
Dylan:Kind of makes me glad I didn't pick a fight with Lu.
Lucas: I think you should be. For some reason I think you would have ended
up picking your teeth instead . . . out of the carpet.
Dylan: (slightly disgusted)You have such a colorful turn of phrase.
Lucas: It's the writer in me.

In the backroom
Lu: I called the cops that means they are going to be swinging by to take
a statement. Here use this wallet when they ask for ID. ( Staci starts
thumbing through the wallet that has all the necessary ID for Anya Kates age 19)
Kris: That's illegal!
Lu: You're just jealous wishing I had some made up for you so you could be
someone else too. I can't believe you had her standing behind the bar. I
could lose my license for that.
Kris: Not with this ID ( perusing it over Staci's shoulder ) That ID card
looks real.
Staci: It is real. The documents we used to get it were the fakes.
Lu: (Cautioning ) Careful with the credit cards. They'll work but they're
on Cassadine accounts. So if you use them, anyone with access to the
Cassadine can track you down using them.
Kris: (Remembering always who signs his checks) Not that she would ever want
to take a vacation from her father.
Lu: (Also remembering who signs Kris's checks) Not right now . . . Maybe
later I'll teach you how that one works; when this guy isn't around.
Kris: Staci just started working here a few months ago; how did you get all
of this done?
Lu: She's been Lucky's niece from birth. He started building her a solid
false identity the day we got her back from the kidnappers.
Staci: (Surprised) What? He's been planning this for seven years?
Lu: Up to and including having you absent the day of pictures for the last
four years at a high school 300 miles from here that provides the false
transcript.
Staci: You mean my name is in the yearbook?
Lu: Anya's is. Neat isn't it?
Kris: (Confounded by the detail) It's amazing. Lucky should be working for
the witness protection program.
Lu: And those papers we gave the DMV weren't frauds either.
Staci: There really is an Anya Kates?
Lu: The "real" Anya died as a baby. It didn't stop her however from
applying for a social security number and a legal last name change to Kates.
Kris: Kates is kind of risky. It's part of her other life.
Lu: Easier for her to remember and the connection is kind of buried. Lucky
didn't know when he started that Staci was going to have a photographic
memory or he would have had a slightly easier time of it . . . Of course
then it wouldn't have been so fun.

My word, Lu and Dylan don't appear to get along I wonder what happened in
their past that has her so ticked? And Lucky building such a good cover for
Staci? That kidnapping must have really freaked him out...or is it the
Spencer genes coming to the forefront again to tweak the Cassadine? All
these questions will be answered in detail in the precursor tale GH2010
be written by Spydur. Right now you know as much as I do! Deb
