GH2017.44 Who Can Sleep In The Afternoon Anyway
Stefan: ( On the phone to Nik) Nothing... I have done nothing. Except
promise complete noninterference in the future. So did you smell the
perfume? ... Why? Because if you had, it is an indication of a chemical
attraction between the two of you . . . As I told Brooke, Lucy told me it
does not create an attraction just enhances an existing one . . . Tell me
everything . . . is there an attraction? ... Invoking the promise. Fine.
But answer me this. Did you try the perfume in a closed area? And for how
long? Oh no particular reason. I just wanted to get some data back to
Lucy. It is still experimental. No, it isn't harmful. For goodness sake,
Nikolas, your mother and I tried it in New York at the opening of the art
show. Yes, yes I 'll see you in a few days. (Stefan hangs up the phone
turning to see his wife standing in the doorway.)
Laura: Well?
Stefan: Brooke wore the matchmaker. I think there was a reaction.
Laura: Why were you asking about enclosed spaces and exposure?
Stefan: So technical-- did Lucy tell you?
Laura: She suggested there might be side effects but I couldn't make heads
or tails of what she was saying.
Stefan: Evidently enclosed spaces intensify the effect and length of
exposure may change the . . . metabolism of the woman wearing the perfume.
Lucy is going to fax me the materials on it. I am sure that Nikolas will
want to review them when he gets back.
Laura: I didn't feel any different and I wore it all that evening. (Stefan
crosses to his wife and takes her in the arms)
Stefan: What? You didn't notice my increased affection?
Laura: I'm not wearing any now.
Stefan: Where are the children? (He starts to nuzzle Laura's neck)
Laura: Cari is with Lu touring sites, Stone is with Alexis and Staci is
with Lucky and Mike at the club. Happy Valentines Day, Stefan. I had a
snack sent up to our room if you are . . . hungry.
Stefan: Did Mrs. Lansbury have the blueberries flown in from my
greenhouse? ( Laura nods) A little taste of summer for the two of us;
Happy Valentines Day, Lasha.
The Cerullo townhouse in the room occupied by Nik Cassadine. He stares out
the window considering his uncle's comments when Brooke enters the room
wearing a short, black kimono style robe that is embroidered with dragons.
Brooke: What did he tell you?
Nik: (continuing to stare out the window.) Nothing really of course. He
appeared interested in where you wore the perfume and for how long.
Brooke : You mean like on my wrists or something? What difference does
that make?
Nik: No, he said specifically 'enclosed spaces'.
Brooke: Like the Bathroom or the Jet.
Nik: (turning to face her) Exactly. Then he said that the perfume was
still experimental and that he was requesting data on Lucy's behalf.
Brooke: But that is crazy, it means he doesn't know what it will do.
Nik: Both he and Lucy believe it is safe. My uncle would never do anything
that would endanger my mother. ( He reaches out a hand to her and draws her
to him) Are you wearing it now?
Brooke: No, I washed it off while you were making the call. ( Nik sniffs
her wrist and then pulls her close enough to sniff her throat Brooke arches
her head to the side) Is it gone?
Nik: (Starting to press kisses to the exposed throat and shoulder.) All
gone; it doesn't mean however, that you aren't intoxicating. ( Brooke
pushes him away)
Brooke: Is this you or that stuff? Are you going to hate me for this later?
Nik: I agree with my uncle. I am doing exactly what I have wanted to do
for ages. From the day you moved in with my sister and danced before me.
You dared me to touch you and I will. For you, I think I would dare
anything. (With each passing word his voice grows softer and rougher as he
draws closer, his hands move to the tie on the kimono. Without looking, he
unties the knot and parts the robe. His hands are warm against flesh still
damp from the bath. She shivers and shrugs out of the robe which falls
soundlessly to the floor.) Are you cold?
Brooke: ( breathlessly shakes her head) No, Hot. And not close enough to
you. Do you think that you could get closer? Much closer. (Nik smoothly
sweeps her off her feet and carries her the short distance to the bed. He
lays her down on the bed. Nik starts to remove his shirt pulling it
smoothly over his head. When he can see her again he sees that she has
risen from her back, to her elbows --lifting her torso so that she may more
closely observe him.)
Nik: Have I become the show?
Brooke: The star. Definitely, the star, Nik. Now how about you letting me
show you what I can do and then . . . ( reaching for his belt buckle).
Nik: Ah a woman who knows what she wants.
Brooke: Only one thing, you making love to me.
Down in the kitchen at the Cerullo's Jason and Robin, Ned and Lois, Gloria
and the kids are all gathered around the table chatting and catching up.
Jason: I wonder what is keeping Nik. I still want to ask him some things.
Ned: I think there will be plenty of time for that later. I think he was
going to make some calls and didn't want to be disturbed.
Robin: I should check on Brooke. I haven't seen her since she arrived.
Lois: Robin, She is such a horrible flyer; she puts herself in a state
every time. Normally the adrenaline wears off and she crashes for a few
hours. It makes it so difficult booking dates for her making sure that the
flying is to the absolute minimum.
Robin: She could do some desensitization work to bring that under control.
It is basically just distracting yourself from the fear until it doesn't
overwealm a person.
Gloria: I think she is working on it. (To Michael and Anna) Have you
noticed that as you get older that your parents need more naps in the
Afternoon? ( Jason starts grinning)
Jason: I like the way you think, Mrs. C.
Gloria: How else am going to have any private time with these angels?
Robin: I am feeling kind of tired. Jason, do you want to keep me company.
( Jason's lifted brow, while amused at the polite fiction, shows what a
rhetorical question it is. He rises and offers her his hand. Together they
leave the kitchen) Kids, be nice to Mrs. C.
Gloria: Shoo, Shoo. The children and I will be fine. ( After Robin and
Jason are gone, Gloria turns to Ned and Lois) What are you two still doing
here?
Lois: Ma, It is your birthday. You can't spend it babysitting!
Gloria : I'll spend it how I like. I'm planning on celebrating all weekend
long and if you two don't pace yourselves you'll never keep up.
Lois: Well maybe we should check on the girls. They have been locked in
the music room for quite sometime now.
Gloria: Take some snacks with you. They normally unlock the door for food.
About ninety minutes later. Brooke in a slate gray tunic over black
leggings kneels by the still occupied bed.
Brooke: ( softly) Nik? Nik?
Nik: (sleepily) What are you doing out of bed? And why are you dressed?
Brooke: I need to go practice with my sisters for tonight. I can't believe
myself. My grandmother's house for heaven's sake.
Nik: As you said on the plane, she has children. There would be no
surprise. ( With one hand he reaches out and entangles his fingers in her
hair she eagerly meets his greedy kiss.)
Brooke: I have to go; they will be sending people after me. I am surprised
that we have had this much privacy. God, I don't want to leave.
Nik: Perhaps we should check out your new ease on planes. I have a place I
want you to see. A cove where the water is the same deep blue as your eyes.
Brooke: (Kissing him again and then rising to her feet) You are beginning
to sound like Jerry talking about the vacation that he and Georgie are on.
Waxing so poetic, I could almost smell the cocoa butter. (Nik's face grows
grim) What is wrong?
Nik: I just hope she is well. (Shaking off his mood) You had better go
before I keep you. I should be right behind you.
Brooke: (Shaking her head) I'll be practicing. You can't watch. You'll
just have to kill time with Jason and Daddy. ( She walks to the door and
turning looks back at what she is missing) Damn, you are fine. (Laughing
ruefully she leaves.)
