GH2016.4 Family Business

Nik approaches the door to his sister's apartment. Despite the excellent
soundproofing he could hear the pulsing rhythm of a Latin beat from within.
Knocking on the door, he waits for someone to answer. Finally his daughter
opens the door.
Nik: Music isn't loud is it?
Staci: I am getting a dance lesson. (together they walk in to the living room.
Brooke and Lucky are demonstrating the kind of "dirty dancing" that had Nik
concerned about arrests the night before. The couple is totally focused on each
other as Lucky bends her over backwards and looks up to see his brother and
grins)
Lucky: Didn't see you there. The guard did not announce you.
Nik: Certain benefits to owning the building. I understand that you are getting
dance lessons. I thought you had been doing that kind of "dancing" for years just
not necessarily to music. (lucky lifts Brooke from the dip and spins her out as the
music ends)
Brooke: Good. another strong back, although you aren't dress for a moving party.
Okay Staci, that was an advanced lesson, your uncle knows how to move to the
music. Sometimes the boys your age won't. just because they are total sticks
doesn't mean that you can't have fun at the dance. Here let me borrow you for a
minute. (Brooke grabs Nik- centering him in the empty room.) Don't move. This
is actually kind of mean. I used to do it in College to scare the boys away. It takes
practice. First one to touch- loses. (Brooke hesitates as she looks up into Nik's
eyes for the first time. A new cut begins and she starts to move to the music.
Maintaining eye contact her hips start to sway as she moves ever closer. Her
hands are within inches of him moving as if caressing; her breath quickens as the
beat takes over. Moving before him and then around him; her body and hands
moving in a seductive rhythm. Tiring of the tease, Nik reaches out grabbing
Brooke by the nape of the neck) I win.

The door opens and in walks Lu , Georgie and Anthony Roberts. The first thing
they see is the couple in close proximity.
Lu: Are we interrupting something?
Georgie: Isn't there suppose to be some kind of sign on the door?
Anthony: I thought that was only in College? Georgie: I'm telling your father you
said that...no way he'll let you live on campus now, lil cuz.
Anthony: Keep thinking that "Lil Cuz" (putting her into a playful headlock) and
maybe your folks will find out something you don't want them to know. (Georgie
looks at him inquisitively but changes the subject.)
Georgie: The elevator is full of stuff. Let's get going. (Brooke and Nik slowly
separate while the others banter.)
Nik: You and I are going to have a discussion about what you are teaching my
daughter.
Brooke: So... You are Nik. I haven't heard a thing about you. ( She turns to exit
the front door with the others. Nik grabs her wrist. Brooke looks at him and then
at her captured wrist)
Nik: You will. (releasing her. Brooke and Staci leave to shift things from the
elevator)
Lucky: How is your blood pressure?
Nik: She was teaching my daughter to dance like that and you just stood by?!
Lucky : Hey! You were just standing by too. A few hours with Brooke is not
going to undo years of repression. Since Lu is going to be living here and Mom
and Stefan are in the wind most of the time...when are you going to remarry and
give the girl a mom.
Nik:(exploding) What is with you people? Staci has a mom. She lives in this
building as a matter of fact.
Lucky: (beginning to look concerned) Where is that famous control, Nik? You are
working on a short fuse today.
Staci: (returning with the others) Grandpa trimmed it this morning at breakfast.
Nik: Family Business, Staci. ( Staci falls silent and begins to position boxes in
the living room.)
Lu: You two stop talking "business" and help with this furniture. Georgie, bigger
does not necessarily mean better.
Georgie: Hey we got it into the elevator all you guys have to do is get it into the
apartment.
Nik: (removing coat and jacket) you know if you had not been in such a hurry and
so independent this could have been handled by others.
Lu: I like to see you sweat; it happens so rarely.
Nik: You and I are going to have a chat about the things you are telling Staci.
Lu: Just prepping for when Daddy makes a list for her.
Nik: Over my dead body.
Lu: He might as well make a list, because you never let her meet boys anyway.
Nik: Enough. One more word about that and you will find that your rent has
doubled.
Lu: YOU DIDN'T
Nik: Two members of my family are living here now...precautions must be taken.

The entrance to the Quartermaine Mansion, hours later. Anthony Roberts enters
filthy and late. He is caught by his mother before he can make it upstairs.
Carly: Where have you been? Your father and I told you we were having company
tonight.
Anthony: PLEASE mom. He is not my father. You two got married less than a
year ago. I was visiting my REAL father and got roped into helping cousin
Georgie move. And this Inquisition is making me later.
Carly: Don't take that tone with me, Anthony Joseph Roberts. (Anthony looks at
his watch) Fine. We'll be in the front room having drinks...Hurry up. (Anthony
sprints up the stairs while his mother reenters the front room closing the double
doors behind her.) Anthony just arrived so we have time to finish our drinks
before dinner. Keesha, Alex can I freshen those for you? ( Both shake their heads
no)
Keesha: I know that DUI roadblocks have suffered some Constitutional fourth
amendment challenges but they are still an effective way to show the people of
Port Charles that we are serious about the zero tolerance for drunk driving.
(Keesha looks over and makes eye contact with her former husband) Don't you
agree AJ... Drunk Drivers are a menace to society and nobody regardless of
position should be able to get away with it.
AJ:(Taking a sip of club soda) Right Keesha. And that was exactly your platform
when elected. (willfully ignoring the subtext of Keesha's comments)
Garcia: If the mayor and DA want the blocks then I'll work on it. I'll tell you right
now this is going to cost money for set up and manning the checkpoint as well as
the manhours of officers sitting in court waiting for the court to throw the cases
out.
Carly: Perhaps have the press at the checkpoints taking pictures of those detained.
Even if they were never convicted they could get their picture in the paper.
AJ: And isn't that your goal my dear, to get your picture in the paper as often as
possible?
Carly: (picks up AJ's drink and takes a sip, setting it back on the table.) Perhaps
we should change the subject. Keesha are you going to the hospital board meeting
tomorrow?
Keesha: (smiling at Carly's less that subtle detective work) I am on the agenda. I
am resigning as legal counsel since I won the election. Alexis said that she can
pick up the slack since she votes Nik's position anyway.
Carly: I really wish you hadn't done that. It shifts the power to the
Hardy/Cassadine side of the board. I also kind of liked having all of AJ's wives
meeting periodically. It helps me keep him on the straight and narrow.
Keesha: If you want to get together with Gina and me just call to go to coffee.
You know I'll always make time for you Carly. Gina normally votes with Nik
anyway. Nik Cassadine makes it very uncomfortable for her when she doesn't. I'll
say this for her, she sticks to her guns if it is something she believes in sometimes
she can even bring Nik around. (Anthony walks in his hair still wet from the
shower.)
Anthony: Commissioner Garcia, how are you this evening, Sir?
Garcia: Fine. The DA and I were just finding another job for the Police Explorers.
Anthony: Sir?
Garcia: Setting up and supporting the officers running the sobriety checkpoints.
How soon do you think the troop will be ready?
Anthony: Next full moon?
Garcia: We just want to catch the drunks not the loonies. Why don't you get
together with the Sgt. tomorrow after school and get the staffing numbers. I hope
to have the blocks up by next weekend.
Anthony. Yes, Sir.
Garcia: I understand you were helping Georgie Jones move? (Anthony nods)
Wonderful Girl. I was really disappointed that she decided to go into nursing. I
have never seen a better shot. She could have made the SWAT team in record time.
AJ: An unusual skill for a nurse to have.
Garcia: Not considering that her parents are Felicia and Mac Scorpio. (Turning to
Anthony) Scorpio was my commissioner back in the 90's. He and his family still
use the firing range. Scorpio Detective Agency has a tremendous reputation in
security and computer investigations.
Anthony: Maxie Jones is one of my teachers.
Garcia: Also an excellent shot... I wouldn't mess with her, Kid.
Carly: Actually since Georgie passed her boards she has decided to go "perdiem"
at the hospital. She wants to have a flexible schedule because she wants to do
some international disaster relief. Our loss I guess. The girl is like a mini UN
when it comes to dealing with foreign patients. Keesha remind me to bring that up
at the meeting tomorrow. I am going to have to request that interpreters be put
back in the budget.
