GH2017.39 Family Ties

The Grill: A blond, well-built man enters and looks around the room until
he sees a woman trying to attract his attention and walks over.
Carly: ( Giving him a hug) When did you get back to town and why do I have
to find out from the papers?
Lucas: I just got back yesterday from New York and was planning on calling
you today . . . The grapevine in this town is still remarkably connected.
Carly: A news hound like yourself should appreciate that. I know I do when
my brother doesn't even tell me he is coming . . . I should be hurt; I
really should.
Lucas: Publisher now. I used the trust fund the Cassadines gave me to buy
up some magazines and even a newspaper. It isn't Time Warner yet but (he
shrugs) it will be someday.
Carly: That is so exciting. My little brother the mogul!
Lucas: You haven't done so badly yourself. How are AJ and the hospital?
Carly (Lying thru her teeth) Mr. Mayor is great; he had a family meeting
this morning. The hospital is one administrative headache after another but
I love it. When do you have to be back in New York? Is there time for you
to come to dinner over at the house? Have you been to see Tony or Bobbie yet?
Lucas: (Laughing ) You would think you were the reporter! Mom knew I was
coming to town but not when. I haven't talked to Dad in a while I guess I
should give him a call. Let me see what were the other questions? Do you
have time to plan a dinner? I think so. I'm going to move back to PC; I
have already started moving the operation here. The costs are cheaper here
than in NYC.
Carly: You're moving back! (Gives him another hug) I'm so glad. I like
having family around. Where are you staying?
Lucas: I need to contact a Real Estate agent today. I am staying at the
PC hotel for a while. It is still the nicest hotel in PC. I can remember
staying here with Dad.
Carly: (Slightly bitter tone) So can I.

Spoon island. Nik is still in Greece. Stefan is reading the Herald. Laura
is at GH on foundation business. Stone is at the TV station, Staci is a
school. In other words, Stefan is enjoying a quiet morning on the island
when he receives word of a visitor.
Stefan: ( looking up over his glasses at the young man who has entered the
frontroom) Dylan Hornsby isn't it?
Dylan: Yes sir. I was checking through the ELQ shipping records and I think
I found a pattern. Uncle Jason told me to get the info to you because you
know where the European asset is.
Stefan: Interesting way of putting things. Let's see what you have found.
(Stefan begins to scan the material and sees what Dylan discovered) Yes, I
see where you are going with this. But I really think you have only half
the picture . . . Do you like to travel, Mr. Hornsby?
Dylan: (Bewildered) Sure. Why?
Stefan: We have a computer expert who works for Yagi Pharmaceuticals in the
European branch. She has been researching the materials that were taken or
purchased from Yagi. I think that she could fill the picture in for you.
Dylan: Well-- let's get her on line!
Stefan: I am afraid that isn't possible. She has spent so much time
researching and breaking computer security that she has little confidence in
it. I believe she called it an oxymoron. Something as important as this
would never be discussed over lines that could be compromised. I am afraid
that we will have to get the two of you in the same room to compare notes.
How soon could you be ready to leave for Switzerland? I'm afraid that the
Cassadine Jet is in use. Could Jason free the ELQ plane?
Dylan: I would have to clear it with him.
Stefan: I'll give you some privacy to make your call. Please have him
call me if he has questions. ( Stefan goes to the entry shutting the doors
to the front room behind him. As soon as they are closed, he pulls out his
cell phone and places an international call) Hello? (smiling) I'll call
you later to talk about the package you sent to Port Charles...
unaccompanied yet! First, there is some business; I am sending you some
company . . . His name is Dylan Hornsby . . . I want him kept out of the
country indefinitely . . . he will be bringing you a puzzle to work on . . .
I will need copies of your progress even if he thinks you aren't making any
. . . I do not know yet . . . he appears to be a nice boy but appearances
can be deceiving . . . your opinion would be valued. (he hears the sound
of the door knob being turned and discontinues his call abruptly)

Over in the front room of the Quartermaine Mansion. Breakfast is being
served when Jason Morgan arrives. Impatiently he waits to get the family's
attention.
Monica: Jason, have you had breakfast? Would you like some coffee?
Jason : Sure. Whatever. Justus, I need to talk to you.
Justus: Jason, It can wait until after breakfast, besides the family needs
to be clued in on what is going on. ( Jason gives in, pouring himself a cup
of coffee as he seats himself at the table)
Alan: How is Anna?
Jason: Gina is working with her. Robin says she is more fragile but I
think she is fine. She talks about things when they come up. I guess we'll
know down the road. If you could get me some literature on the subject I
would appreciate it.
Alan: Robin could get it for you just as easily.
Jason: If you would prefer that I went through Robin I will.
Alan : No. It's not problem. I'll pull the materials from the class that
the Med. school does.
Jason: Good. (Changing the subject abruptly) Someone is using ELQ for
illegal arms deals.
AJ: WHAT! What in the Hell have you done now, little brother? I can't
afford any scandals right now.
Jason: (retorting sharply) Then spend more time with your wife and less with
your cronies. ELQ is cleaner now than it ever was before Justus took over.
We both like it that way. You (looking around the table) are being
informed so you can be on the lookout for anything strange. People wanting
to buy stock, being followed, anything out of the ordinary. AJ, you are the
most public figure now. Do you want extra security?
Monica: Jason, You are talking like we are under siege. What is going on?
Jason: Until we have all the information, I think caution is warranted. I
didn't discover this information; it was brought to me by a friend of the
Cassadine. Nik said when he was looking it over that it felt personal.
AJ: This is happening because of Nikolas Cassadine! That son of a bitch
has it in for this family I can't believe you are taking him seriously.
Jason: As I am sure you are aware, AJ, Nik reacts strongly to what he
perceives as personal attacks on his family. I believe this is happening.
I just don't know who or why yet. The other problem is that the friend of
the Cassadine is a Jacks . . . Jerry Jacks.
Monica: Edward will be flipping in his grave. Jason, Are you sure he can
be trusted?
Jason: No. Monica, I don't trust him as far as I could throw him. Which
is why I want to know about any movements on the stock. This could be an
elaborate set up to have another go at the company by J&J. AJ, Do you want
more security?
AJ: No, I have to be accessible to my constituents. I will start using
the driver though.
Jason: I am glad you are taking this seriously. You'll have to fill Carly
in. She has enough Spencer in her to look forward to a fight.
Alan: You think it will come to that?
Jason: It's guns, Alan. This could get messy especially if we start making
it difficult for them. Justus, have you finished yet? I need to get going
but we have to touch base. ( Justus rises to walk Jason out. He grabs his
coat as they walk outside to talk on the front porch)
Justus: (Putting on the coat) Just how messy is this going to get?
Jason : You don't want to know. I want that crap out of our ships. If the
government finds out about it they will be crawling all over our ships maybe
even blowing them out of the water to stop them from getting out of US
waters. Once they are done with the shipping division, they will start in
on the rest of the company. (Thinking) You could get ahold of your
contacts and find out what information they have on the two bad guys Jacks
gave us. If anyone asks questions; we are considering a company in that
area. Step lightly though. I want to be long gone before the Feds start
cleaning up.
Justus: Dylan is a little green to be placed in the fire like this.
Jason: And isn't the timing interesting, this didn't start happening until
after he took the division.
Justus: (shocked) You don't think he has anything to do with this?
Jason: I don't know anything yet. He called when I was on my way over. He
wants to borrow the company jet to consult with Stefan's European expert. I
think it is a very good idea. It will give me a chance to look around in
the Shipping Division without having to be diplomatic.
Justus: (snorting) Diplomatic? Get me a picture of that on the day it
happens. I think we need to bring Ned in on this. He has ties to J&J
because of Brenda.
Jason: (grimacing) Do it. I'll have to warn them anyway. Lois likes to
think she is safe from the family because Ned does everything by proxy but
they are in just as much danger as the rest of us. I'll be seeing them in
person when I go to Mrs. C's birthday party. I'd like them to be up to
speed before then.

Spoon Island. Dylan has left to get some gear packed and meet the ELQ jet.
Stefan considers the situation before picking up the phone and making
another international call. This time he calls the Foundations offices in
Russia. Moving smoothly into his first language, he passes a warning.
Stefan: I have received information that Ivan Petrovich has received
weapons and the makings for bombs. I am concerned for your safety . . .
The people need to be warned and on guard . . . If the work we have
completed is undone, The Cassadine will be disappointed . . . Yes, a
security force is on its way . . . My wife will be unsettled that it is
necessary for humanitarian and economic aid . . . The security will be more
effective if we had knowledge of his movements . . . how much assistance
can the government be counted on for? (His face grows grimmer) Our
industries will be a target because we have hired the minorities. . . He
will not be allowed to succeed. Fax me all the information that you
develop. . . . I will inform The Cassadine. He will decide if more than
defensive measures will be necessary.
