GH2017.28 Meltdown

Jerry and Georgie are outside of Georgie's apartment after taking a long
drive through the quiet streets of Port Charles. Jerry takes Georgies key
from her nerveless fingers and unlocks the door switching on the light to
the living room.
Jerry: Here you are.. safe and sound. (Georgie again wraps herself around
Jerry refusing to let go and not looking at him or saying a word. Jerry
holds her close but grasps her chin as he pries her head up to look at him.
Her eyes are glassy, the pulse in her throat rapid. He is surprised when
she reaches up on her toes and begins to kiss him, her hands running over
his chest)
Georgie: Take me home with you. Please, Jerry I need to be with you
tonight. You make things alright. You make me feel-- you are the only one
that can. Make love to me, Jerry. ( Jerry traps her roving hands and
stares into the face he has grown so attached to, his eyes narrowing as he
sees the tension and the dark circles that are covered with make up)
Jerry: Darlin', when was the last time you slept?
Georgie: (tears beginning to fall unnoticed) I don't know...Idaho? Since
you were shot? I can't close my eyes; my heart starts racing. It feels
like it is going to come out of my chest. the dark starts closing in around
me... Oh God! I can feel his hands on me. Jerry- make it stop, please make
him stop. ( her head drops back on to his chest the sobs ripping his heart
out.)
Jerry: Shhh baby... it will be okay... you are safe... he can't hurt you
anymore. You made sure of that. ( he begins to rock her; his hand petting
her hair.) Everything is going to be fine; you just need some rest.
Georgie: Don't leave me. Please. Jerry, I'll do anything you want. Just
don't leave me alone tonight. I can't go in there. ( Jerry makes a decision)
Jerry: Alright come on.
Georgie: You wont be sorry; I swear ( she kisses him again )
Jerry: (to himself.) I must be out of my everlovin' mind. ( he puts his arm
around her again escorting her away from the nightmares that she had fled
earlier in her own apartment)

Jerry's apartment. Jerry opens the door flipping on the light as he enters.
Georgie follows. An awkward silence between them.
Jerry: Georgie Darlin', you are not firing on all cylinders tonight. And
I am not holding you to anything you said out in the hall, all I know is
that you need eight hours sleep and ( looking her over and remembering the
last few days) a full meal. ( he goes to his dresser and pulls out a
favorite rugby shirt, some sweat pants and thick socks which he hands to
Georgie) Now why don't you go take a shower until the hot water runs out
and you get all the tears out of your system. I am going to heat you up
some soup. ( Georgie silently takes the clothes he is offering and moves to
the bathoom turning on every light as she goes. Jerry watches her go seeing
the child that was robbed so many years before. He goes to the kitchen
where he begins to heat some soup and calls Stefan's cellular phone.)
Stefan, it is Jerry.... I know how it looked...but it would have looked a
hell of a lot worse if she would have killed that guy on the dance floor for
grabbing her... oh Nik and Lucky took care of that. appreciate that..Look
I don't know who to call at the hospital but she needs some time off... I
have been promising her a trip to the tropics and I think now is the time.
Can you handle the details... right thanks. I'll let you win the next game.
( small laugh at Stefan's retort before breaking the connection. Jerry
goes to the fireplace and lights it. turning on lights as he goes
recalling Georgie's sudden fear of the dark.)

Georgie comes out of the bathroom wearing the comforting clothes; her hair
wrapped in a towel.
Jerry: why don't you come over here by the fire. I'll go get a comb for
your hair. ( he returns with the comb and detours to the kitchen to get
the soup. He sees her sitting on the floor using the couch as a back rest.
He sets the comb and mug of soup on the coffee table as he grabs an afghan
from the back of the couch wrapping it around her. He slides on to the
couch behind her, his legs framing her shoulders as he grasps the towel and
begins to dry her hair. Georgie silently endures his ministrations until
grabbing the towel out of his hands. He takes the comb and starts to comb
out her hair. Gently separating the tangles. ) Drink your soup.
Georgie: Yes Sir!
Jerry: That is my girl, starting to get you spunk back. No thinking
allowed tonight. Miranda, my ex , was in a horrible accident had to have
years of surgeries to get her life back. I used to visit her and brush her
hair. There was nothing wrong with her hands which was kind of amazing
since she tried to blow herself up. She'd get in a funk thinking that
nothing was ever going to be okay again that she might as well just check
out. Don't know really if it helped but it made me feel as if I was doing
something to make things easier for her.
Georgie: It feels nice.
Jerry: Drink your soup. I don't know... maybe it brings back good memories
for me. My mom had long blonde hair like yours. She was an unconventional
broad. She came from a wealthy family but it didn't stop her from being
down to earth. Even bawdy at times. And a smile that would light a room.
She and Dad had a rough time for awhile before he made his fortune. He went
off searching for oil and I was the man of the family. I saw the stress she
was under. the headaches she used to get worrying about me, Jax or even
dad. She would have insomnia something fierce but brushing her hair would
relax her enough to sleep. It was something I could do for her something to
make things a little better.
Georgie: Do you do foot massages too?
Jerry: See it is making you feel better . I think I have found a cure here
for sad ladies; should I call the journals? Do you think you could sleep
now? ( Georgie stiffens) It will be okay, Darlin'. We'll leave a light on
and the door open. if you start having bad dreams I'll be right here. (
Jerry lifts her into his arms and carries her to his room.
Georgie: You shouldn't carry me: you'll hurt your arm.
Jerry: Ah you don't weigh a thing.. which is why I can tell I am going to
have to feed you up a bit. I make a great breakfast...actually that is the
only thing I cook. ( he sets her on the bed and turns on the bedside lamp;
pulling the covers over her, he tucks her in and kisses her on the top of
the head and starts toward the door)_
Georgie: Jerry, would you stay til I fall asleep...please.
Jerry : No problem, little girl. ( he sits on top of the covers next to
her and pulls her into a loose hug) Just close your eyes. I'm right here.
Everything will be fine. You just rest.

The following morning there is loud pounding on the door.. Jerry rushes to
the door afraid that the noise will wake Georgie. Mac is on the other side.
Mac : You son of a bitch! I thought your brother was bad but she is young
enough to be your daughter!
Jerry: Damnit Mac. Keep your voice down. Nothing happened, but if you wake
her up; I'll slit your throat!
Mac: Nothing happened?
Jerry: Nothing. Look I just got her back to sleep after a nightmare. She
was having them throughout the night. Why don't we go into the kitchen
where we can talk? ( together they walk to the breakfast nook where Mac
seats himself as Jerry pours coffee for them both.)
Mac: Why did she come to you?
Jerry: I just happened to be there at the club last night and gave her a
lift home. How did you figure out where she was anyway?
Mac: Lu was concerned when she didn't come home and thought maybe she had
come over to the brownstone. She told me that Georgie had left with you.
Georgie: Which doesn't explain why you are here, Mac?
Jerry: Sleeping Beauty arises ( he sees Georgie going over to the coffee
pot) No Coffee, Georgie. Why don't you have some juice?
Georgie: Is that an order?
Jerry: Your even making a comment like that proves that it should be ( he
looks pointedly at Georgie and then at Mac. Georgie bites her lip and then
pulls juice out of the fridge.)
Georgie: Why are you here, Mac?
Mac: I was concerned about you as is your mother...Evidently with cause.
Georgie: Everything is fine.
Jerry: (tracing patterns on the table with a spoon) Except for the
nightmares. ( georgie glares at him)
Mac: Georgie, you should have come by the house. Your mom has a room made
up for you always... you know that.
Georgie: Things will be FINE now . He is in jail. He can't hurt anyone.
I'll call mom and let her know I am ok, alright?
Mac: Georgie, he can't physically hurt you now; face it-- you are too old
for him. But he is evidently still messin' with your head and ignoring that
won't make it go away.
Georgie: Are you saying I need a shrink?
Mac: Maybe. you can't go around being the catalyst of bar fights! (Georgie
looks at Jerry bewildered)
Jerry: That happened after we left. Georgie, looks like you missed your
opportunity to blow off some steam. Stefan told me he made some money on
that fight.
Georgie: I am getting a picture here that is just to bizarre to be real.
Stefan Cassadine betting on a bar fight? Am I still asleep? ( jerry waves
his coffee cup under her nose before snatching it back) You are a cruel,
cruel man, Jerry.
Jerry: And an interfering one. Stefan has arranged for you to have some
time off from the hospital. You won't be going back to work until you are
cleared by the shrink of your choice: Tom or Gina.
Georgie: (angrily) You had no right to do that.
Jerry: (Pointedly) You have people lives in your hands; I think they have a
right to expect you to be near 100%.
Mac: Is there a conversation going on here that I don't know about?
Georgie : NO.
Jerry: How about some breakfast? I'm sure things will look better on a
full stomach. Mac what is your pleasure?
