GH2017.21 Visitors in the Night
A silent figure dressed all in black approaches Wyndemere. Smoothly
avoiding the silent alarms and infrared cameras on the grounds it approaches
the secret passage that had been used by pirates and smugglers generations
ago. With casual familiarity, learned from childhood games, the specter
triggers the passage and moves into the darkened house where all the
occupants are asleep. Gliding up the stairs the ghost stops at the room
occupied by Stone Corinthos and stares down at the sleeping boy.
Georgie: ( in a rough whisper) I wish I would have had someone like you
when I was her age. Maybe then none of this would have happened. You are
a brave knight and no harm will come to you because of this. ( leaning down
she softly kisses his forehead and a single salty tear falls on Stone who is
now awake but feigning sleep as the specter leaves the way she came.)
An hour later in a middle class section of town the same ghost enters the
wood shop of Bruce Saunders. Not as quiet this time since the space is
unfamiliar she begins to search quickly but thoroughly and replacing items
as she goes so that no one will notice the intrusion.
Georgie: ( talking to self) okay if I were a pervert where would I hide
my toys? (searching through cabinets she finds what she is looking for in a
shoe box behind some stain and varnish. Opening it up she finds the
pictures of children and on the back letters and numbers that seem to have
no relation to the pictures shown .) Oh Bruce, you are a smug bas***d;
aren't you? Here is your little memory box ; I wonder where you keep your
diary? Would you risk having it in the house? I bet you would if it were
in the computer under a password.
(putting back the pictures where she found them. She leaves the shop and
moves toward the house taking out her lock picks. Minutes later she is
inside the house and looking for the study. She finds the computer that has
been left on and searches through the disc to find one that looks
promising...when she cannot find what she is looking for she decides to copy
the contents of the hard drive to break down later. Inserting a disc she
types in a command and waits as the computer starts to work. Knowing it
will take some time and feeling impatient she walks through the house
entering the bedroom that is shared by Bruce and his wife.
Silently she looks down at the man that has haunted her dreams noticing the
ravages of time that mark the changes in the monster that she cannot forget.
She thinks to herself) It would be so easy. A few minutes and my nightmare
would be over. Anna would never have to face him again. But Alexis wants
to get him legally-- to spare Stone and Jason. Alexis, you will have your
chance but if this doesn't work; then, I will take care of this once and
for all. ( quietly she returns to the study where the computer is just
finishing its task. pulling out the disk she erases all evidence of her
presence and leaves the house.)
Meanwhile at the club...
Brooke : Hey Lu how much longer do you think it will take?
Lu: I still have some book work to get done. (looking over at her brother
who is waiting impatiently with more things to discuss) Nik, would you
drive Brooke back to the apartment. If you still want to talk we can do it
there.
Nik: ( looking over at Brooke who he had been avoiding since their encounter
outside the club) Fine. but don't drag it out Princess I want to get
working on Stone's defense and you may have information that will help me.
Lu: Nik, I have told you all I know.
Nik: All you may remember now but who knows what detail will be the key. (
taking Brooke's coat he assists her in putting it on and escorts her from
the club)
Brooke (notes Nik's distraction and remains silent during the short drive
and the ride up the elevator to the apartment. Finally inquires as she is
switching on the living room light) Do you feel like telling me what is
going on?
Nik: (tersely) It is family business.
Brooke : Well I guess that explains it. Did you know that secrets make me
crazy? ( there is no response from Nik) Okay fine how about I make a pot of
coffee, or would you prefer a drink? You can make yourself comfortable while
you are waiting for Lu.
Nik: Either is fine or both. this may take a while.
Brooke: ( goes to the cabinet and pours Nik a brandy handing it to him and
then goes into the kitchen to make coffee) I can see that I am not going to
get any information from you. I guess I will have to wait for the scoop
from Lu. In that case I will wish you a good night. If you get bored lock
up before you leave. ( Brooke moves toward the bedroom almost tripping over
a bag on the floor) Georgie is home. (looking into Georgie's room she sees
the unoccupied bed) No she's not...I wonder where she is?
Nik: ( who had straightened at Georgie's name) This group sure keeps some
odd hours. Don't worry I'll wait up for her. Good night Brooke.
Brooke: (looking back at the man who seems to have dismissed her from his
troublesome thoughts) Goodnight Nik.
A silent apartment where a single lamp casts shadows over the living room.
There is a click as the door is unlocked and Georgie enters shrugging off
her coat and removing the stocking cap that covers her golden hair. She is
startled by a noise behind her and turns abruptly
Nik: Brooke made coffee before she went to bed. you look as if you need
something to warm you up.
Georgie: ( looking over at the man who is seated on the far end of the
couch cloaked in shadows) I knew that rooming with Lu would have it's
drawbacks. What are you doing here?
Nik: Well I was waiting for Lu until I discovered that you had decided to
make your appearance back in PORT CHARLES then I decided to wait for you.
Georgie: We have nothing to talk about. ( she moves off to the kitchen,
flipping on the computer in passing then pouring herself some coffee and
taking out the makings of sandwiches. Efficiently she starts to make
herself a snack ignoring Nik)
Nik: I think we do. Stone has involved himself in this mess which means it
has become family business.
Georgie : It is not your business. Alexis and I will handle this. All
you will do is muck things up. Just stay out of it. ( she takes a sharp
knife from the butcher block and begins to cut the sandwich in half)
Nik : ( unthinkingly grabs at Georgie's arm to make her face him one hand
resting on the wooden counter top but his quick reflexes save him a nasty
injury as he looks down to see the knife point imbedded in the counter where
his hand had been he drops his other hand from Georgie's arm) Dammit Georgie!
Georgie: I told you before about being grabby. ( moving away from Nik she
takes her sandwich to the dining room table and sits down and begins to eat
her snack)
Nik ( taking a seat opposite her) Don't think that you can shut me out of
this or that it is not my business. You made it my business when you
protected my sister from that monster all those years ago. My family owes
you for that. You are under our protection now.
Georgie: (looking at him with a shocked and angry face) Who in the hell do
you think you are? You don't owe me anything and I can take care of
myself...I have been for years.
Nik: But now you don't have to; Georgie, tell me what happened.
Georgie: Read about it in the papers. ( losing her appetite Georgie pushes
away the sandwich and moves to the computer. Taking out the disc she enters
it into the computer and starts to read the files looking for a clue to
Bruce's diary.)
Nik: What is that?
Georgie: Nothing now. It may be something that Alexis will want later.
Nik: ( looking over her shoulder sees Saunders name on a file) Where did
you get that? (Georgie does not answer) Okay what are you looking for?
Georgie: Back off, Cassadine.
Nik: Georgie, let me help you with this.
Georgie: Fine, if you wont leave then I will. Alexis wants the names of
Saunder's victims. somewhere on this disc may be his diary. It is probably
password protected it may even be encrypted but I doubt it because he never
thought he would get caught. I am going to bed. If you crack the diary
take it to Alexis...have her call me tomorrow. (she starts to walk away)
Nik: Georgie...
Georgie: WHAT!
Nik: Everything is going to be okay.
Georgie: Keep believing it, Nik, I learned better when I was seven years old.
