GH2017.19 Discoveries

A slim hipped man pauses briefly upon exiting the airplane in to the hot
humid day that is just too bright after hours on a plane. He quickly
reaches in his pocket of the jacket he does not need to find the sunglasses
he does. Tossing his duffle over his shoulder he moves to the terminal
taking in the sites and smells of this foreign country. As he reaches
customs and shows his passport a man is called forward to assist him.

Embassy Official: Mr Spencer, how do you do? I am Mr. Cho. Mr Morgan
called to let us know of your family emergency... I am authorized to offer
you all assistance.
Lucky: Thank you Mr Cho. I wish I had more time to explore the country but
I need a guide to assist me in finding Drs. Morgan and Hardy.
Cho: given the urgency that Mr Morgan relayed I anticipated that you would
feel that way. Dr Morgan did leave an itinerary with us before leaving for
the hill country. If you will come with me the vehicle and guide are
waiting back at the embassy. There are a few things that need to be
collected before you leave if you would care to freshen up at the residence.
( together the two men move off to a chauffeured car that drives away from
the airport)

Apartment 326, A click in the lock...

Georgie: (calling out) Anyone home? Where is everyone? ( Georgie drops
her bags going over to the message machine where she enter her code.)
Maxie: I know you are getting in today...I would like to talk to you maybe

Alexis: Georgie Jones this is Alexis Hardy, I understand from your sister

Felicia: Honey, Maxie told me you were getting back today I am working at

Georgie: First things first.... Mrs Quartermaine I can fill the floor slot
tomorrow i f you like...Great I'll see you tomorrow. Mom...yeah it is great
to be back...are you free for lunch? okay I'll swing by as soon as I get
the travel dust off me. (checking for the number off the caller ID) Yes
may I speak with Ms Hardy please?... Ms Hardy, this is Georgie Jones....
Okay.. Alexis, I was wondering if you had an appointment available this
afternoon?... I just got in; I really need to tell my mother before I talk
to you. I get the feeling that this is going to be messy.... okay I'll see
you then. ( hanging up the phone she looks over at the Herald that has a
picture of Stone Corinthos and an article about his arrest. Reading quickly
she snorts when she gets to the line about "unprovoked assault". Georgie
also notes Bruce Saunders had declined to be interviewed.) Even reading
your name makes me feel dirty, you pig. ( throwing the paper in the garbage
Georgie takes her bag and goes to take a shower)

Alexis Hardy's office. Rich walnut walls and thick carpeting muffle the
footsteps of the next appointment who enters the office and is greeted by
Alexis' back as she stares out the window to the Charles River below.
Alexis sees the reflection of her next appointment in the window and turns.

Alexis: Keesha, hello, come to talk about my son?
Keesha: I hate meeting with you under these circumstances.
Alexis: Actually, I may have more information for you this afternoon but I
did want to talk to you about Stone. I don't think you want to try this
case. As many witnesses as you have and even with the Heralds attempts to
prejudice the community by calling it an "unprovoked assault" this is not a
winnable case for you. When the jury hears the true story they will be
giving my son a medal maybe even a gun to do a better job next time.
Keesha: You have got to be kidding?! Alexis, what are you talking about?
Alexis: Why don't we have a seat. ( as the two women take seats, Alexis
gathers her thoughts) Stone was babysitting the child of a dear friend of
mine...the child informed him that she had been sexually abused by Bruce
Saunders
Keesha: WHAT!
Alexis: Stone held it together long enough to get the child to me where she
was examined by Gina Williams and found to be credible. Meanwhile without
my knowledge, Stone went looking for Mr Saunders. I think you'll find that
your witnesses at the stadium will in all likelihood indicate that my son
was not in his right mind when he attacked Saunders; I know that a jury
will find that way. One of the witnesses came to my house the next
day...she knows another victim. Someone that Saunders also abused. That
person is coming to meet with me this afternoon and I believe is willing to
go public with her accusations. She was abused 15 years ago by the man.
this young woman is a respected member of the community and will crucify
your so called victim.
Keesha: Come on Alexis- I feel like I am being blindsided here! I come to
talk to you about what appears to be an open and shut assault and find out
about an alleged sexual predator!
Alexis: I think we will be working rather closely together. I know that to
protect my son I need to prove what a monster Saunders is. I also need
you to protect Saunders if you can believe that. I think his life is in
danger and I need him alive to clear my son.
Keesha: What are you saying?
Alexis: Saunders' chicks are all coming home to roost. The little girl he
assaulted is the daughter of Jason Morgan and the woman that is coming to
see me is the step daughter of former police commissioner Mac Scorpio. Who
knows who else he assaulted but this is going to bring up alot of bad
memories...
Keesha: I'll call Alex and he will get a detective right on it. You are
right I see where Mr Saunders would be better in police protection than on
the street.
Alexis: Tell Mr. Saunders that there is no place for him to hide. Leaving
town will only make things easier for his enemies. The only thing holding
Mr Morgan back is his daughter and the fact his wife is out of town. As
soon as Robin is back to take care of the children the hounds of hell will
be loose.
Keesha: That sounds like a threat. ( Alexis smiles and says nothing as she
stands concluding the conversation)
Alexis: Let me know the name of the Detective that will be in charge of the
case. I'll inform him of any other victims I may come across.
Keesha: I'll be in touch and I will let Mr Saunders know. He may decide to
not press charges?
Alexis: That might spare him my wrath but not that of his victims or his
victims' families. Always good to see you Keesha...we will talk again, soon.
Keesha: I have no doubt that we will , Alexis.

On the other side of the world, Lucky Spencer is climbing in to an open 4
wheel drive vehicle next to his guide, Mr Chang.

Lucky: So Chang, you have seen the maps... how long do you think?
Chang: We'll get to the location before nightfall. There was been reports
of road washouts in that area. I think that is what prolonged the Doctors'
trip to start with it also brought down the phone lines. It is not safe to
travel at night so hopefully we can be back in the capitol tomorrow. Is the
Doctor's daughter going to be okay?
Lucky: I think so. I know I would not be however if Doctor Robin found out
that we had not told her as soon as possible.
Chang: True. True never mess with a mother about a child.
Lucky: (putting on his sunglasses and getting comfortable as Mr Chang starts
the engine) Exactly.
The Outback Restaurant

Georgie: Hi Mom!
Felicia: Baby! Let me look at you...you are getting thin let me guess the
stories about Chinese food are true you can eat it all day and not get
filled up!
Georgie: (laughing) Something like that. Is there anyway you can get the
day off? I really y need to talk to you and I don't want to do it here.
Felicia: ( her eyes growing serious as she looks at her daughter) Of course
Georgie let me go back to the kitchen I'll get our order to go and let them
know that the boss is not going to be in their hair today. ( when Felicia
returns from the kitchen she has the bagged lunches with her as well as her
purse)
Georgie: Is anyone at the brownstone?
Felicia: Baby you are scaring me ...this sounds serious have you heard
something from your dad what is going on?
Georgie: Mom it is actually old business and it is important but nothing
to be scared of. ( the women fall silent as they walk to the brownstone.
They easily fall in to the old habits setting the table and getting drinks
before sitting down to the lunch in front of them that neither will touch.)
Felicia: Okay, we are here and we are alone. what is going on ?
Georgie: Did you read today's paper? (Felicia nods) Stone had a very good
reason for attacking Bruce Saunders. Saunders had molested Anna Morgan.
Anna told Stone about it and he went off on Saunders.
Felicia: None of that was in the paper.
Georgie: I am sure it will be soon enough. Maxie saw Stone attack
Saunders she told me about it when I called. I knew then that Saunders had
been caught.
Felicia: Wait a minute...you knew that Saunders was a child molester.
Georgie : yes I did. ( reaching across the table she takes her mothers hand
and holds it in a grip that becomes increasingly painful to them both) I
know because he did the same thing to me when I was Anna's age. I couldn't
tell back then and later it just would have hurt all over again...but now I
see that I screwed up. If I had told then Anna would not have been hurt.
I have already contacted Stone's mother; I have a meeting with her to tell
her all about this. She thinks it may help him.
Felicia: ( tears welling in her eyes) Oh God Baby you went through that all
alone when you were so little...Why didn't you tell me? Why did you think
you couldn't tell me? I should have protected you...I would have been there
for you.
Georgie: Mom, you have been there for me and you taught me how to take care
of myself. (looking away) Who knows what kids think at that age? I never
would have brought this up except I am going public. I figure it will take
the heat off Anna and Stone and put it where it belongs... on Saunders.

Back in Alexis' office her next appointment has arrived. After a brief rap
on the door he opens it to see Alexis sitting behind an uncharacteristically
messy desk.

Nik: What bomb went off in here?
Alexis: I seem to be doing things the old fashioned way here.
Nik: Anything I can help you with?
Alexis: you are already doing so much making sure that Stone is safe out on
the island.
Nik: Alexis please you know better than that. Stone is family and will be
protected. What exactly are you doing?
Alexis: These are high school year books for the last five years ( she
points to one stack) I checked out from the library and these are
newsletters from the church that detail all the youth group activities for
the last decade. Tommy searched the brownstone and found them. Audry was
evidently a packrat and so was Felicia to a certain extent. Actually I
understand it both of them kept them because they mentioned the kids. The
third stack is a copy of all of Mr Saunders classes pictures since he became
a teacher. I am trying to find common names...I want to start with the
victims that may be an adult now. As soon as I start hitting the minors I
have to start involving the parents.
Nik: I don't understand. Anna is seven why are you wanting to interview
people as old as 23? And I think you are putting alot of work into this; I
think that Jason is right. Saunders will make a guilty plea to avoid having
an accident.
Alexis : When did you talk to Jason? Never mind it is not important. An
accident will not clear Stone. In fact it would make things worse. Even
knowing that I still have to show you this. (Alexis hands Nik a photograph
of smiling children on picture day with a young Mr Saunders standing to the
side. One girl is circled.) The girl that is circled is a confirmed
victim. Look who is standing next to her, Nik. ( Nik stiffens; his face
going ice hard) Nik...I need to talk to Lu.
