GH2016.15 Too Close

Opening the door to a hospital room.

Stefan: Well this is reminiscent of the last time I saw you? I would have
thought that over the years you would have learned better than to play with
bullets
Jerry: You mean I was shot? For God Sake man call the cops can't have
people with Guns running loose... I thought I was here to meet women.
Stefan : Well I met my first wife here so I suppose it is not impossible.
Jerry: First wife eh? That implies a second
Stefan: Laura, she and I have been together for 18 years married for 16.
Jerry: You always were overly cautious...can't believe it took you two
years to get her in front of a preacher...you must be loosing your touch.
Stefan:( smiling and saying nothing) Brought you some burgers from the
Outback...I think you might know the proprietress...Felicia Scorpio? I
believe you know her daughter, Georgie?
Jerry: Lovely girl believe she is a nurse here. I haven't seen her though
everyone is telling me she is off in China sifting through an earthquake.
Stefan : Yes, I had heard that also...you do realize that Georgie lives
with my step daughter who I happen to adore. I would be ...upset if
anything were to happen to her.
Jerry: This sure is a close knit town seems as if everyone is related to
someone....glad I came to town seems as if you need some new blood.
Stefan: (beginning to set up the chess board on the bed table) your blood
wasn't new 20 years ago and it still seems to be a little tainted now... but
lets see if your game has improved.
Jerry : I need to make a phone call first...reaching for the phone he calls
a local number. " Yeah, I'd like to speak to Jason Morgan please... Mr
Morgan my name is Jerry Jacks and ..." What the hell? He hung up on me.
(Jerry looks at Stefan with frustration and a question in his eyes)
Stefan: Jason Morgan.... not one to give second chances. I think that
perhaps Jax used up all of Jason's patience with your family. Perhaps if
it is important another can make the call. (Going along with Jerry's polite
fiction) Maybe Georgie when she gets back from China?
Jerry : (looking at the board and then making his opening) Well she had
better get back soon.
At a fire barrel on the docks a small figure joins the wino's. Nothing
distinguishes her from them at first glance her threadbare coat over layers
of other clothes and a stocking cap covering her golden hair....without a
word she passes a paper wrapped bottle to the man standing next to her.

Georgie: Hi Barry.
Barry: I don't know you remember.
Georgie: True. Did he get to the hospital okay?
Barry: I did just like you said waited til the wheeled him in the hospital
'for I left. Radio doesn't work in the car.
Georgie: yeah but the heater does. Did anyone ask you about me?
Barry: Nah- nobody asking questions by the hospital but there have been
guns rousting people down here looking for a couple of fellows. I thought
you had a place down here...too cold out here for a gal who don't take a nip
now an then to keep warm.
Georgie: That an invite? (She takes a swig of the cheap wine that is
passed to her) Too many people knew where I was staying. Figured I'd just
hang loose for awhile. See if he was okay before I split.

Back at the hospital: Nik walks into Jerry's room where the two men are
engrossed their chess game. And without a greeting to either man:
Nik: Where is Georgie?
Jerry: (absently) China.
Nik: I want the truth. I stopped by the apartment and no one was there.
Jerry: Guess too many grabby people knew about the apartment. Check
Stefan (glancing down at the board and humming softly under his breath )
Better, better ( he swiftly moves a piece that protects his king while
placing his opponents in harm's way) Check. Jerry, you should ease my
nephew's mind otherwise he will keep digging until the answers are revealed.
Jerry: (moving a piece to block) That would be too bad seeing as how she
had to leave a perfectly safe apartment 'cause of his interference
already... Shame if he put her into danger by asking too many questions....
I understand his concern that Georgie's holidays will endanger his sister.
I figure the only way that would happen would be if someone left a trail of
bread crumbs to her. I expect her roommates should have a phone call within
a day (his voice fades as he considers Stefan's move and makes his own his
voice regaining strength) been watching the news and reading the
paper...that earthquake is about cleaned up. I figure that your step
daughter will have an idea when she should be arriving at the airport or
Georgie's sister. (Nik looks on at the engrossed men who are studiously
ignoring him and departs to go back to the club)
