GH2016.14 Power Plays
At a dockside apartment...Nik Cassadine opens an unlocked door to an empty
apartment.
Nik: (to himself) Damn it Georgie, where are you?
Meanwhile at the Port Charles Grill two businessmen are having a dinner meeting.
Jason: This is your chance Dylan, don't blow it. The ELQ fleet has a long
profitable history and if you want to go anywhere in this company..you will
keep your profits up and your department lean.
Dylan: You don't have to tell me, cousin.
Jason: As far as I am concerned; I am not your cousin. The family may
have voted to have you included in the business as some sort of nepotism but
that is not the way I work...I'll be keeping a close eye on you. If you can
get the job done then you'll advance in the company. If not I'll find you a
nice corner office with a pretty view and all the computer games that will
fill an eight hour day.
Dylan: I am not my mother, Mr Morgan.
Jason: If you were you wouldn't even get into the building. Ned vouched for
you which is why you are getting a shot...but that is it, a shot. If you
run into something that you don't know then come to me or to Justus. Your
mother was sloppy and she underestimated people. Use all of your resources,
don't blow your shot through ignorance. As much as I hate nepotism you are
the family's best shot as the next CEO.
Dylan: But what about you?
Jason: Dylan, I get things done. Sometimes my methods would not look good
for the company on the front pages of the Herald. I also have a problem
suffering fools with grace. Justus is much more diplomatic. You have the
education and the background to be so also. You can be the next CEO if you
have the balls to go for it....but cross me or screw the company and I'll
slit your throat...figuratively of course.
Dylan: (smiling) I don't need to stick my hand in a fire to know it is
hot. I actually did learn a lot from my mother.
Jason: Maybe there is hope for you yet.
Lucky's Club: Brooke is on stage practicing when the door opens and Nik
walks in . Brooke finishes up the song and jumps down from the stage.
Brooke: Are you following me, Nik?
Nik: Actually, I was hoping my sister was here.
Brooke: She had a meeting with a supplier. Evidently Lucky has gone out of
town on business.
Nik: Has your other roommate checked in yet?
Brooke: Georgie is expecting to be back soon but she hasn't called in a
while. Why?
Nik: I was hoping that with Staci spending so much time over at the
apartment that the only sane member of the household would be returning soon.
Brooke: Do you know me well enough to question my sanity?
Nik: You do create an impression. Interesting parlor tricks you were doing
for my uncle, telling fortunes.
Brooke: I have to have some advantage since I don't have a team of private
investigators crawling through my acquaintances background.
Nik: I am sure you did not walk in to the situation unaware.
Brooke: It is actually amazing how close mouthed everyone is about you. I
tried to do my own research but it is as if you don't exist....There is
plenty of mention of the Cassadine Foundation but you are like a
footnote...and no pictures....I have to wonder why.
Nik: I like my privacy. I grew out of having to be the center of
attention before I took the reigns of the family.
Brooke: (disbelieving) Really. Remember I do live with your sister and your
daughter is becoming a close friend. With everything they do you are a
consideration...how will Nik react? Sounds as if you are still the center
of attention.
Nik: I am the head of the family .
Brooke: And who is the heart?
Nik: ( placing both hands on the bar boxing Brooke in .) You seem to be
awful interested in my heart...why would that be?
Brooke: (refusing to be intimidated by the invasion of her space moves to
the offensive) Someone has to be. Although from what your sister and
daughter have indicated "the family" seems to be more concerned for your
heart than you are.
Nik: You misunderstand, my uncle's search for a wife for me has nothing to
do with heart and everything to do with an heir.
Brooke: What about Staci?
Nik: She can't inherit but I think you'll find she doesn't mind- her needs
will be provided for.
Brooke: Of all the chauvinistic gall. How can you keep a straight face
after spouting garbage like that? It sounds as if you are planning to marry
her off...have you had the groom picked out since birth?
Nik: Some were suggested to me, but I decided to wait until she showed a
preference.
Brooke: What century are you living in ? Hell, what country? It sure
doesn't sound as if it is the united states in the 21st Century! (Brooke's
fists clench and she misses the humored glint in Nik eye)
Nik: ( Reaching to frame Brooke's face with his hands his thumb begins to
caress her lower lip) My uncle is right; you do have fire...but you are so
...predictable. (his hands caress her cheek as his fingers tangle in to her
hair arcing her head back and he bends his head down to draw her into a
kiss. Brooke leans back against until the bar her hands pushing him away
finally biting at Nik's lower lip to stop the kiss) So the kitten has teeth
and claws I see.
Brooke: (breathless and ticked) I'll ask again just what century are you
living in ?
Nik: Maybe you should be concerned as to what Century your father is living in?
Brooke: (totally confused) What?
Nik: Didn't my uncle tell you? Your name is on his list. I am sure he has
called your father by now.
Brooke: You are the insane one and it sounds as if it follows the male line
of your family.
Nik: (smiling bitterly) It sounds as if your research was remarkable
thorough if you have figured that out.
Brooke: I was kidding.
Nik: Stop worrying about my heart, little girl. It is walled for a reason.
The only thing that leads Cassadine men to insanity is women. And I
swore years ago I would never allow that obsession to rule me.
The Port Charles Grill. Jason and Dylan are finishing drinks as AJ and
Carly approach. Jason smiles a welcome to Carly and invites them to join them.
Jason: Carly , AJ join us; we were just finishing up.
Dylan: Cousin AJ how is politics?
AJ: It is a dirty business but someone has to do it.
Carly: Darling, you know you love it. (Jason looks quizzingly at Carly
recognizing that something is up)
Jason : (seeking a private conversation with Carly) Would you like to dance?
Carly: (smiling naturally for the first time) That would be great. (the
couple moves off onto the floor their conversation private with only the
piano bar as accompaniment)
Jason: Now tell me what is going on.
Carly: Just some adjustment problems...every couple has them.
Jason: Really...I don't recall any real problems with you and Tony?
Perhaps the fact you loved him made a difference.
Carly: Jason, I do love AJ.
Jason: Who are you lying to Carly? You and AJ are both old enough to know
your own minds but I thought you had decided to stop trying to lie to me. I
have always been able to see through your machinations.
Carly: Do you think that he can?
Jason: (brutally honest as always) Do you think he cares?
Carly: You're right. I thought I had learned my lesson with you about no
strings sex. There really is no such thing.
Jason: Is this going to work out? I mean without the two of you killing
each other?
Carly: I don't know; I feel like I don't know anything anymore. I wish
Robin were here.
Jason: So do I. How is Anthony? Still planning on being a cop?
Carly: He is my bright spot. Great in school, responsible I know he takes
after his father rather than my side of the family.
Jason: Your family is famous for getting what it wants maybe you should
decide what that is.
Carly : I want what you and Robin have. I want to be happy with a man I can
love.
Jason: Is he?
Carly: I don't know...I don't know.
