GH2018.02 It isn't What it Looks Like

The warehouse about 1am. In the Jacks apartment everyone is asleep

except for Cari who is up waiting for the club to close so that she can

go pick Lucky up and take him to his house. Lucky had finally gotten

word where his cadillac is. Cari uses the time to plan the route for a

roadtrip to pick it up. This weekend will work out well. Finally!

She's going to get to take out her sky blue cadillac that she'd received

for Christmas out on the road. The intercom beeps.

Cari:(her voice both cautious and curious) Yes?

Security: There is a guest here for you, Ms Jacks.

Cassidy: (from the intercom) Baby, It's me. Buzz me in.

Cari: MOM?! What are you doing here?

Cassidy: (amused) Freezing my ... toes off.

Cari: (elated) Let her up! Let her up! (Cari turns off the intercom and

races to the door opening it even before Cassidy gets to the elevator

downstairs. As the elevator doors open Cari races to her mom gathering

her in a huge bear hug that is affectionately returned.)

Cassidy: (as they are walking in the door and Cari shuts it behind her)

Oh, It's so good to see you? I swear you've grown!

Cari: (rolling her eyes and groaning) and I swear you say that every

time we're separated for longer than a day.

Cassidy: (drawing Cari into an embrace) It's been a lot longer than a

day, Baby. I missed you and I missed us having Christmas together.

Cari: It's been a really weird year, Mom. And with Tante Laura gone,

it's been really quiet. I mean it was weird before but this quiet is

unnatural; it is like the other shoe is going to drop.

Cassidy: You got it, baby. The other shoe is dropping. Stefan sent

for me. He wants Brooke home, and he wants Laura home too.

Cari: Do you know where Laura is?

Cassidy: No, but I know where Brooke is. Stefan and I agree if Brooke

is home then Laura soon will be. Is your father awake still?

Cari: He's in his room already but...

Cassidy: (walking unerringly to Jerry's room) I feel like I know my way

around already with all the stuff you sent me on the apartment... You

really did do a beautiful job

Cari: But Mom....

Cassidy: Shhh. I'm just going to surprise your dad.

Cari: (muttering to herself and moving for cover.) I don't think that

Dad will be the only one surprised.

Cassidy: (rapping softly on the door once before opening it. The light

from the living area backlights her as she softly says) Jer?

Jerry: (in a deep throated growl husky with sleep and surprise) Cass?

Is that you; what are you doing here? (Jerry climbs out of bed and

moves to the door) Is everything okay? How is Kevin, Lucy and the

kids?

Cassidy: Everything's fine back in Switzerland. Stefan sent for me.

(From behind Jerry a soft voice can be heard.)

Georgie: Jerry?

Jerry: Hush. Go back to sleep, everything's okay. (Cassidy flinches

and straightens)

Cassidy: (in glacier tones) Sorry. I think I interrupted something.

I'll just be on my way. I'm sure I can bunk over at Stefan's; I'm sure

he is still up. I'll just call him from the living room.

Jerry: (grabbing Cassidy's arm as she turns away) Damn it Cass... It

isn't what you think!

Cassidy:(pulling her arm away) OH so you know what I'm thinking now...

that you're NAILING your partner. Is this a habit of yours, Jacks?

She's kind of young, don't you think? Or is this a case of arrested

development... on your part!

Jerry: Cass, just give me a second okay... one second.

Cassidy: (pausing and taking a deep breath and exhales slowly) Time's

up. I'm out of here.

Jerry: Hey Cari, a little help here!

Cassidy: That is low, Jacks...even for you. I can't believe that you

are involving our daughter in this.

Cari: (blocking the door. ) Mom, I think that you should talk to Dad. It

isn't what you think.

Jerry: It isn't what you think, Cass.

Cassidy: Right, you're in bed with a girl young enough to be your

daughter... and it isn't what it looks like. Excuse my skepticism

considering that we could never be next to each other and not end up in

bed... on a couch or a pool table.

Jerry: (Flushing as he glances over at his teenage daughter.) Jeez

Darlin' I can't believe that you just said that. Georgie isn't like

that... nobody is like that but you.

Cassidy: (a little quieter) OH Please!

Billy: (coming from his room and pulling on a robe.) Cassidy! When did

you get in? And why didn't anyone invite me to the party?

Cassidy: (going over to her daughter's brother) Hello Billy, You're

looking good. I'm glad that you're here. Otherwise I'd think that Cari

was only associating with bad influences.

Billy: (looks over to where the sound of a door softly shutting as

Georgie fully dressed and pulling on her coat appears from Jerry's

room. He winces.) Now Cassidy, it isn't what you think....

Cassidy: One more person says that to me and I'm going to scream.

Georgie: (her expression wooden and her chin lifted slightly) Then I

won't say it.

Cassidy turns around to see Georgie behind her with Cari standing next

to her. She looks from one to the other and then back again.

Jerry: Striking, isn't it? Are you sure you've told me about ALL our

kids?

Georgie:(bitterly) There may have been some confusion about my

paternity prior to my birth but as far as I know-- you weren't in the

running, Jerry. I'm out of here.

Jerry: Where do you think you're going?

Georgie: I thought I'd go see a man about a car.

Jerry: Barry? Why? What's up?

Georgie: I don't know; something just feels weird down on the

waterfront, and he would know what it is. I think it's time that I got

my own place...I've been staying here since the explosion but I don't

want to step on anyone's toes. (with that she walks to the door and only

pauses briefly when Jerry calls out her name before shutting the door

behind her.)

Jerry: DAMN IT!

Billy: Do you want me to follow her?

Jerry: Son, you couldn't keep up with her

Billy: How much sleep did she get?

Jerry: Not enough. Cari, Will you make some coffee for us? I don't

think anyone is getting back to sleep.

Cassidy: Okay, I'm starting to believe it; what's going on?

Billy: Georgie gets nightmares...terrors really, wake screaming scare

off years of your life dreams. Jerry is the only one she trusts enough

to keep the boogie man at bay.

Cari: (coming back from the kitchen) Officially, she's sharing a room

with me. Every once in a while she'll try sleeping in our room. But

she's up within a few hours...going for a run or taking a hot shower or

heading out to do goodness knows what. (She looks at her watch) I need

to go to the club soon. Daddy, Lu is working there tonight.

Jerry: (Nodding) Right-- You wanted to see Stefan? Let me get

dressed. I know exactly where he is.
