GH2011.4 MOVING FORWARD
Jason picks up the phone and makes another call. "Hey Lois, it's Jason."
"Oh gawd, is somethin' wrong with Robin or the kids?"
Jason laughs shortly, if it were only that simple, he thinks. "No Lois,
nothing like that. Is Ned there?"
"Sure, hang on a second." Jason hears Lois hollering for Ned, "NEDLY,
IT'S JASE!"
Ned picks up the phone, "Hey Jason, what's up?"
"I think you should take Dylan back to Bensonhurst, NOW."
Immediately serious, Ned asks, "What happened? Do you need Robin and
the kids to come here too?"
"No, it's nothing like that. But Ned, I have to warn you, don't let Dylan
near your mother."
Ned sighs, "What did Tracy do this time?"
Jason matches Ned's sigh with one of his own, "I can't get into the details
with you over the phone. But I honestly don't know if she'll get out of this
one alive."
"Okay, I'll have Dylan come home first thing tomorrow morning. I'll call
him right now."
"Thanks Ned," Jason says before hanging up.
*****
"Ned, how's it going?" Dylan asks after picking up the phone.
"Not bad, Little Brother. But now that the tour's over, I think you should
come on home."
Dylan rolls his eyes, "Why now?"
Ned laughs slightly, "Gloria's kinda miffed that you missed spending
Christmas here. She missed you. Face it, Dylan, the girls are asking for
you."
Dylan laughs slightly, "Well, I miss them too."
"I arranged for you to fly home in the Quartermaine jet tomorrow
morning."
Dylan stands up and starts pacing, carrying the phone with him,
"Tomorrow? Ned, that's just too short notice."
"Too short for what?"
"For me to say good bye to everyone."
"Well, get on the phone and start cracking. The jet is leaving at 10am. Be
on it."
Dylan slams the phone down and sighs again. "I gotta see Lu," he
mumbles to himself before walking quickly out the door.
*****
Georgie sits and watches as Lu works on her weaving project. "How do
you do that?" she asks.
"Patience, I guess," Lu says, her rhythm not wavering at all. "I said
something to my parents about going back to PC High."
Georgie's eyes light up, "Really? When?"
"Next fall."
Her face falls again, "Why not before then? I miss having you around."
Lu looks up at her and smiles, "I kinda miss being around. You're the only
person outside of the family that I've seen in months. You're the only one
that we all trust."
Georgie smiles back, "You're my best bud, Lu." Her expression gets
serious again, "What about Dylan?"
That's the subject that breaks Lu's concentration. Her hand slips and she
looks up at Georgie sheepishly, "Uh, what about him?"
"You haven't talked to him since that night I smuggled him onto the
island."
"The night we slept together," Lu says softly.
Georgie nods, "Yeah, that's the one. What's up with that?"
Lu shrugs, "I can't see him anymore."
"Correction, couldn't see him," Georgie says, "You didn't want to see him
because you blamed yourself for what happened with Staci. You distanced
yourself from everyone and everything except that loom of yours. But
now, Staci's back. You can go back to what you had before."
Lu shakes her head, "It's been too long. I know that Dylan's moved on
with his life by now."
Georgie rolls her eyes, "Oh please. He called me not two days ago,
wanting to know if he could see you now that Staci's back."
"Oh," Lu says softly. "Well, I don't know. Daddy was pretty ticked off
whenever he would find out about us spending time with one another."
"Stefan can't rule your life forever, Lu. You're growing up, 16 years old.
He's going to have to let go sometime. Besides, he can't follow you
forever."
Lu laughs, "This is DADDY we're talking about. If I go anywhere now,
I'm going to have guards crawling all over the place."
Thinking for a moment, Georgie suggests, "Well, I could bring Dylan here
again."
Lu runs a hand through her hair absently. "Okay. Yeah, I'd like to see him
again. And at least here, I have free run of the island."
Georgie smiles, "Okay, then I'll arrange it for you." She looks at her
watch, "I'd better be going anyway. I'll call you with the details."
Lu stands up and hugs Georgie, "Thanks, G. I appreciate all you're doing
for me."
"Hey, it's the least I could do for my best friend."
*****
Lucky sticks his head into Emily's hospital room, "Hey Em, up for
company?" he asks hopefully.
She frowns slightly at first when she sees him, then puts on a brave face
and waves him in. "Lucky, what a surprise. How are you? I saw on the
news that you cut things pretty close with the guys that kidnapped Staci."
Lucky smiles, "Yeah, but you know me." He looks down, "It's Staci and
Lisa I'm worried about. Staci's okay physically, but mentally, she's still
having some trouble. Lisa's in ICU still. Your husband is one of her
doctors."
Emily nods, seeing Lucky is breaking her heart all over again. "So you
heard about the wedding."
"It was as big on the news as Staci's rescue. Lu saw it and told me." He
pauses for a moment, trying to collect his words. He doesn't know how to
bring up the subject of her lost baby. "I'm sorry about the baby, Em. I
know how you love kids."
Emily wants to tell him the truth, tell him that is was their child, but she
can't make the words come. "It's hard to deal with, but Tommy's been
very supportive."
Lucky nods, "So that's why you guys rushed into this marriage." As soon
as the words are out, he wants to smack himself for sounding so harsh.
She interrupts with her own harsh tone, "Lucky, that is NOT fair."
Agreeing, Lucky adds quickly, "I know that. It's not fair to me either."
He reaches down and takes her hand in his, "I'm sorry, that didn't come
out right. I didn't come here to upset you."
"Then what did you come here for?" Tommy asks as he walks in the door.
"Are you harassing my wife?"
Lucky turns to Tommy, "I came to see Emily, not you."
"You're not welcome here," Tommy says harshly.
"I think that's for me to decide," Emily interjects, but inside, she's grateful
for the interruption. "Lucky, I think you'd better go."
Lucky nods slowly, "Okay, Em. Because you asked. I'll see you later."
He leaves quickly.
Tommy watches him go, "What the hell did he want, Em?"
Emily shrugs, "You didn't give him a chance to say."
Tommy goes up to her and kisses her cheek, "I'm sorry, honey, it's just
that I get very protective where you're concerned. Especially now."
Emily smiles, but wipes away tears, "I appreciate it. But you can't hide me
from Lucky forever. We live in the same town." She pauses briefly,
"When am I going to get out of here?"
Tommy smiles, "Very soon. Probably tomorrow if Dr. Goldstein says it's
