GH2011.3 - JASON MOVES
Jason dials his cell phone even as he walks into his house. "Mark, get over
here, I need you and Benny to get some information to me as fast as
possible."
"What do you need to know?" the young man's voice replies.
"Get with Benny and dig up every bit of information you can get on Tracy
Quartermaine's mob activities, including her associations with Jennifer
Smith and the Atlantic City division. And find out anything you can about
a kid that she might have been raising."
"Be there in an hour," Mark replies.
"30 minutes," Jason challenges before hanging up the phone. He doesn't
hear Robin come up behind him.
"Something wrong?" she asks. He gives her a quick smile and she nods
understandingly, "Business, I got it."
The doorbell rings, Jason heads for it. "That'll be Justus. He and I have
some ELQ things to go over. We'll be in my office if you need us," Jason
says to his wife before opening the door for Justus.
"What has you all stirred up, Jason?" Justus asks as they go up to Jason's
upstairs office.
"The last thing ELQ needs is a reason for the feds to come down on it,"
Jason says bluntly.
"You mean your organization," Justus says.
Jason shakes his head, "Worse. The New York and Atlantic City divisions.
With a Quartermaine at the helm."
"What?" Justus asks, confused. "Tracy? What's she done this time?"
"She must have taken over what the Solitos and the Smiths couldn't finish.
Have her shares of ELQ changed over to Dylan yet?"
Justus nods, "Yes. They went immediately to Dylan on his 18th birthday."
"So Tracy has nothing in ELQ anymore."
"Right. But Jason, it's still going to look suspicious with the mother of a
board member being a crime boss. Especially if she's expanding."
Jason looks at Justus with a very serious expression on his face, "Tracy's
getting ready to take a large tumble and I want to make sure that ELQ is
safe before anything happens."
Justus nods slowly, "May I ask what type of tumble?"
"Let's just say it won't be pretty, and most likely, she'll wind up dead."
Justus exhales quickly, "You wouldn't order her death. After all, she is
sort of family. Warped, perhaps, but family."
Jason shakes his head, "Out of respect for the Quartermaines, I won't have
anything to do with her demise, but I won't lift a finger to help her either."
Justus stands to leave, "It's going to look a tad suspicious if she dies.
Especially since the shares were only switched to Dylan a few months
ago."
Jason nods, "Let me handle that."
As Justus leaves, Mark comes in and quickly hustles up to Jason's office.
"Tracy's in New York City. Secluded in that Penthouse of hers on 32nd
street. Security is so tight, the President probably couldn't get in."
"Lisa could get in, but she's in ICU in critical condition. Were you able to
find out anything about a kid?"
Mark nods, "Apparently, she contacted a baby broker a week ago about a
14 month old boy. He's already been sent to Newark, New Jersey for
delivery to a family the first of the week."
"What's the likelihood of us getting to the kid?"
"Security is practically non-existent, by our standards. All the money has
already changed hands."
Jason thinks briefly, "Okay. Get the identity of the family and pay them
whatever it costs to forget they ever heard about this kid. Next, call the
heads of the top five organizations that Tracy deals with and tell them of
her 'unethical' business practices. She's using one of her own people's
kids. That's sick. If she does it once, she's likely to do it again. It means
that no one that has kids is safe."
"Should we just take her out?" Mark asks.
"We won't. But make it clear that anyone who does any sort of business
with her will be considered a liability to me. All alliances with them will be
dropped if I hear that they're doing business with her. Also, I'm not
opposed, if someone thinks she should be out of the picture. By tomorrow
night, her territory will be in my hands until Lisa is well enough to take
over as my ally. If they have a problem with it, they can take it up with me.
Any questions?"
Mark shakes his head, "I'm on it now."
"As soon as you have the buyers straightened out, let me know. I'll
arrange with the broker to have the kid picked up by noon tomorrow."
Mark nods quickly and leaves. Jason sits back in his chair and takes a deep
breath. His phone rings, "Morgan."
"Any news yet?" Lucky's voice asks.
"The kid's at a baby broker in New Jersey. You'll be able to pick him up
by noon tomorrow."
"A baby broker?" Lucky asks, concerned. "Will my nephew be okay?"
"I'm sure he will. I'm handling all the details, so all you have to do is be
there to pick him up. I'll even arrange your transportation."
"Thanks Jase, I owe ya."
"No one deserves to have her kid taken away like Lisa did. If I had known
